Thanks Al. There's some good contemporary figures in the range.

I thought that too. Makes a change to have some figures that aren't either obviously pre 1968 or with Mobile Phones or Tablets! Nearly bought another lot but resisted for now. Had a bit of a shock when I added all the ones I fancied to my basket!

Hi Al

Personally I think these look much better with snow ploughs,.

Richard

They do, but 427 was a conscious decision not to fit them. I'm working around 90'-93' so the intention is to have it fairly clean during the summer of 93' before it had the ploughs re-fitted. my 26024 & 37423 both carry them and there will be another 37/0 that will likely carry them at some point. I need to get 37008 sorted first though! 37427 was just a very quick interlude due to Hattons Sale!

Little progress again this week, but bogies knocked up for another wagon in build. There will be a full write up at some point for this one too. And I have (finally) got the first two of Paul Rolley's Railease POA's in primer so the top coats and transfers will all being well get done this week and the write up finished.

As alluded to yesterday, two of Paul Rolley's Railease POA's are finally getting paint. Primer and Bauxite for the internals of the body and they are now sat in the garage with a first coat of yellow. Hopefully at least get these two off the WB this week and I can finish the write up.

Finally getting somewhere with a few things. Two of Paul Rolley's Railease POA/SSA kits finished and written up for the MIOG website with another two nearly finished. Write up is here if anyone fancies a read.

And the next two on their way:

There will be another write up before too long for Paul's PXA/KEA now that transfers are available and I should have an update on another project tomorrow. I have actually found some motivation today so an old project has returned to the WB and is progressing again finally!

Well I promised an update on another project yesterday so here goes. Last year I started putting together an Intercity Land Cruise set of MK1's. I got one FO to a point where the body was pretty much done as was most of the underframe then sort of lost my way a little. I had also put most most of the bogies together. I have realised this evening that I have not fitted the axle boxes to them all so I'll have to rectify that. Well this weekend they have come back on the WB and I have made some not insignificant progress, most windows had been fitted to a second FO, the RBR and BFK but I hadn't done the toilet windows (this needed the vent soldering on). So windows finished, ends modified and the bodies built up on the second FO, RBR & BFK. Holes have also been drilled out on all the roof parts for the vents which I'll cut out and fit this week. Next job is to get the third FO to this position. Basic underframe is done so its just a case of bodysides, windows and ends to do.

I like using paint. Two strips of masking tape a smidge apart; splodge paint (or diluted plastic filler) in the gap, remove tape. If you're cunning you can even stipple the paint in to give it some texture.

Oh, and I think Archer now do weld seams. (They do, here: AR88019)

So, as with all engineering problems, you now have more solutions than you do engineers...:)

Thanks all, I have done some more reading up form the Easybuild website and elsewhere and I think I have a plan involving masking tap, scoring of lines and microstrip! Watch this space (though its likely to be next week before I attack the roofs again).

As a general rule most cheap Chinese figures look pretty rubbish and under scale, I did invest in a pack a while back and they'll be OK for filling busses/coaches but anything that is visible I'd give a miss and invest in more bespoke figures from the various supplier we have here. Having said that I spotted this set of figures on ebay last week while looking for something else, for just over 12 quid I thought what the hell, worth a punt. Well, I am rather happy with them, the handle for the jack was too short (I have extended this with a piece of 2mm rod) but with a few touch ups here and there I think they will look the part (Note car not included!!!).

The 4x POA's are now basically done baring re-doing the hand brakes I broke on one:

Not a lot brewing, there will be a wagon update soon, hopefully over the weekend. However a modelshop/credit card interface type accident happened the other week and now we have another gronk to add to the stable:
