Well following on from the 'postscript' to the "What projects do you have for 2010?" Thread, maybe we should kick off a new one for this year..?!

From Marsa we have:-

Now for 2011 is to finish the trackwork and electrics and to acquire a class 142 Pacer in GMPTE livery. A 'brucie' bonus would be a JLTRT 37.  best start saving then,

...and from Lancer we have:-

...I have also added to the list;
8. Easybuild RMB. Finished all except spraying the roof ;D
9. Easybuild FK. half way with build  ;D
10. Easybuild CK . started but not finished
11. Easybuild TSO. started but not finished
12. Big big mk2's x 10 . Various stages
13. Heljan 47 . re-number and weather as 1660 City of Truro. Done except nameplate and works plates
14. Slater/Coopercraft 5 plank open. alter/detail as UCV china clay wagon. Nearly finished ;D
15. Slater/Coopercraft 5 plank open as above but not started.

For myself, these are my modelling projects for 2011;
1) Get my new US O scale layout finished enough for it's Show in June. 8)
2) Paint & detail my Atlas SD40 (Soo Line Red/White - what else..?? :D )
3) Weather some of my US rolling stock.
4) Plan and start a new HO layout.
5) Get to grips with this new-fangled DCC malarkey for the above. Anyone think DCC will catch on..? :vista:

After all that I'm not sure I'll still be eligible to be a member of this Forum...

Along with these plans is an on-going project to make my shed a bit of a better place for my trains; mainly tackling the condensation problems that occur after a cold night when the sun hits the roof... :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

Hi

My project timescale is not based around calendar years, but rather working towards a first exhibition, so to a certain extent it's a carry over from 2010.

Specific projects:

Finish the following locos
Crab
10001
L&Y saddle tank
Aspinall A 0-6-0 and
one of Fairburn, black 5, 8F, or Peak

Build the 2 LMS 42' parcels vans

Dingham a whole load of wagons - about 25 I suspect

Finish the layout, working on the signalling at the moment.

There's a huge time commitment there, and I'm not going to be free of my stupid work load until the end of January I suspect.

Still, I'm looking forward to 2011 with more focus than I usually have.

Cheers

Richard

My 2011 'to do' list consists of:

Bogies for Lima 33
MOK Q1
MMP 08
Decide on layout plan and get laying
Westdale/scratchbuild Southern Region Inspection Saloon DS70155
Slaters ex Southern PLV

and hopefully between items four and five, that nice Mr Parkins will have brought out his new Class 33, so that I will have something to pull/propell the Inspection Saloon.

I want to sort out in my head what I want to achieve in S scale: One32 is nicely sorted.
Other than that, I will be happy to have done some modelling during the year, but I hope to be very busy work wise in getting my business running - have got it up, now need to get the work in - so in some respects a lot of modelling progress could be bad news!

Mainly garden based modelling for me this year. Off the top of my head I need to do the following

Tidy up ballast
Fit station platform (built)
Build platform shelter and lamp
Build platelayers hut and fogmans hut
Build Signal
Sort out remote control system for layout power
Add in switches (wires already run) for lighting and smoke unit in hut
Plant more bushes
Run more trains :)

Modelling based activities:
Finish at least one Ruston 48DS
Detail and paint Autoccoach
Finish the four G1 wagons that are built but need paint
Change wheels and gearbox on Pannier tank

Get cracking on the EM layout as I currently do not have an indoor trainset (boo!)
Try and get a bit more S Scale stuff done.

That seems quite a lot when its written down, a busy year then  ;D

In terms of 7mm projects, I definitely want to get the 37 finished, it's been dragging on for far too long now!  I also want to start one of the tank wagon projects, but I haven't yet decided if it's going to be the Phosphoric Acid tanks, or the Nitric Acid ones - I've got more info on the Phosphoric ones, but the Nitric ones are a slightly easier prospect.

Either way, I think most of this years modelling time will be taken up with 4mm stuff, I really should be building the stock for the layout that is sporadically being constructed, so:
1. Finish the class 455 EMU
2. Finish the 07-275 tamper
3. Finish the Heavyweight 37
4. Start and finish the tank wagons

That'll keep me occupied for some time!

Morfa, well it'll figure on my to do list for several years to come, but I'd like to get the basic circuit up and running this year. I'd also like to do another 009 pizza, strange other worldly ideas of Cuba mixed with Portmeirion float about in my cranium. the there's my dabble in the gauge one waters to do too. I reckon that's enough for now.

I wonder if committing them to a list will help me stay on track?

My 2011 projects are

Finish the A3

Build some coaches 2 xJLRT, 1 x Peter Dobson LNER coaches and some Sidelines/Heywood LMS (being a bit ambitious here I know)
Finish the dozen or so 4mm projects that litter my bench - decide whether to build or sell my 4mm PDK 02 and DJH Barney kits.

Perhaps build another loco or in any event get wheels etc. to complete the loco's I have. My job isn't looking too secure long term at the moment so I plan to build up my stock of kits so that if the time comes that I can not afford to buy any I will have a stock to be going on with.

Just like everyone else I've got loads of stuff to finish off too:
Bulleid 11001 research at the NRM, then I can give it some brake gear, plumbing and a proper cab interior.
'Continental' coach.  With the last couple of construction conundrums sorted I can now get this complete.
'Ironside' from the Agenoria kit; I've had the chassis running for ages and now need to find the time to get the bodywork built.  In theory it's required for a show in October.
The chassis for the Springside 2251 also needs completing.  It can then serve as a reference/testbed for all our future 0-6-0s.

Patterns for various Southern-related parts; including inside valvegear components for Drummond locos and a couple of other things I have up my sleeves.

And then there's a new project, which will take up most of the year.  The area we're modelling would see most of its services operated by 'U' class 2-6-0s, so I'll be building a batch of three from the David Andrews kits.  Then, hopefully, a test etch for a 'Rebuilt River' followed up with the couple of those we need for the layout.

Busy?  Yes..... ::)

9083 and 9015 are still here, although technically 'off bench' projects.  By which I mean that I'll be putting together many of the components for their construction (e.g. crank axles, motion parts, hornblocks, sound profiles, split axles and preparing the wheelsets) and completing any necessary cutting diagrams, calculations, research, etc. through the year when I need a break from other projects, a 'five minute job' or something that can be done away from the workbench.  In this way, when I get to their 'construction' most of the problems will be solved and it should just be a case of assembly.  The resulting assembly can then be both quick and (hopefully) straightforward.  It also stops me having to solve problems at the bench; which is when the frustration can set in...

It's the same approach I've used for a year or two now; the 'U's, for example, have a thick folder containing all the info I have available, a few parts, cutting lists for the new parts I want to detail them, copies of the GAs, calculations for the position of the CSB suspension points and the sketches for how to get the CSB approach to work with a pony truck.

I hope that makes some sense!

Two main ones:

1. Finish of my DC kits class120 Stalled because windows won't fit without a lot of filing, and everytime I start I seem to lose patience.

2. sort out some point control whether it be electric or manual with the GEM system or even dowel rods underneath the baseboard (I did one point like that on my previous layout.

Simon

Flying Squad
1.) Build more than one turnout for the garden line before spring.

2.) Lay (1) outside in spring

3.) Construct whole of track base for continuous run in garden

4.) Lay more track around at lest some of (3)

5.) Finish Minging Waddle (probably)

6.) Progress 121 railcar to at least resin cabs stage

7.) Other stuff that I could mention but had better not (like a million standard class seats in resin)

8.) More other stuff I haven't even thought of yet

Notes:

Item 8 may over-ride or take precedence over items 5 - 7, but probably not over items 1 - 4.

3 LINK

It's going to be a busy year

1/  Move to new house (nearly packed and ready to go) !!!
2/  Take over the double garage for my use only  8)
3/  Persuade her indoors that it will be fine if I can just run a single line along the back wall of the dining room. This will enable me to run from the garage directly though and out into the garden, surely not a lot to ask  :shit:
4/  Finish off my jltrt 42xx.
5/  Build Finney 28xx ( only been waitting 2 years to get started
6/  Build all the rolling stock that has been gathering dust since 2003  :)
7/  Then finally build the layout to run it on !!!
8/  Ho and in between install new central heating for the house (and garage  8)), and dig a pond.

Maybe I have taken to much on, ask me in a years time  :))
