16BA Brass Nuts

I was talking to Items Mail Order this morning and he told me that he is running out of 16BA Brass Nuts and won't be re ordering as they are going to be too expensive for him to buy. He has a few hundred left if anyone uses this size.

Jon,

That being the case, I should perhaps point out that M0.8 is pretty much the same size. Although incompatible with 16BA, metric nuts and screws in this size are fairly easy to get hold of.

Fairly easy, maybe. As cheap and in large quantities as BA, no.
Not to mention Ive never found a cheap source of M1 bolts in the 1/2" length range in anything larger than a pack of 20 or so. (For several pounds I may add when I regularly buy them in the hundreds for quite a bit less overall)

These any good? M1 x 10 Brass Slot Countersunk c/t Pack 100

10mm vs 12(ish)mm, but not bad at £7.44/100. It depends how far down the supply chain you want to go, it's not too tricky to order small metric screws in 1000s direct from China.

Steph
I use screw-shop regularly and have never seen those. May have to try them my next order.

Though I have put in a future order for something like 500-1000 1/2" 14ba cheeseheads if he ever makes an order for them again.
So if anyone else is in the market for a bunch, tell him so he can make the order sooner.

Well I`m still trying to find a screw to fit a couple of captive nuts! Neither M3 or 3BA fit - ideas anybody!

I'm now searching for M1 metric hexagon head bolts. Prime Miniatures sell them but @ £4 for ten and I'm looking to spend less if I can. I need the bolts to go along the main frames of my Lion/Titfield Thunderbolt loco and I'm looking for approximately 80 in number.

If youre comfortable using 14ba (its only a .1mm difference), try Screw-shop. Packs of 100 run about £7 or so.

I searched about and simulated bolts from Germany were slightly dearer than proper bolts from prime Miniatures so, I opted for Prime Miniatures. When I come to place the bolts, I shall rivet over on the inside of the frames.

I did look at 'Screw Shop' and I didn't think that they had any bolts. I didn't spot you message until after I posted mine about Prime Miniatures.
