7mm Hudswell Clarke

A few years ago I started rebuilding an Ixion Hudswell Clarke to Scaleseven standards. I then got distracted by other projects and it's only in the last week that I finished it. Phew! Anyway, here's a few pictures.

I chopped out part of the chassis to add some daylight between the frames and added overlays to accommodate Scaleseven wheels


Then did a few bodywork modifications



Few more mods

Several years later



And finished!

Thanks Heather.
I know weathering is not everyone's cup of tea, but I tend to view my locos as tools to get the job done rather than museum pieces. Hence the untidy look!

I use Halfords red primer as an undercoat. The weathering is then created using the hair spray and salt technique. Top coat is also Halfords spray which is pretty much unaffected by the AK Interactive weathering products I use.

There's a small S7 layout in my loft for it to run on but my mojo has gone and I can't seem to get much enthusiasm for it at the moment. Maybe I'll just make a little shunting plank for the Hudswell Clarke to run on instead.

I found a picture of what I thought was a Hudswell Clarke on the internet a few years ago and this was the inspiration for my model. Now I can't find the picture and I've a nagging feeling it wasn't actually a Hudswell Clarke! Oops! Ah well, I like to think the guys in my imaginary workshop on the Findon Limeworks line improvised and just used what was to hand in repairing said loco.

I might just get my layout down from the loft. At least then I'll be able to see if the poor old Ixion model still runs after my butchery!
