That’s nice Robin, I’m guessing 7mm to the foot? Job to tell..
Interested in the loco we can just make out on the back of the bench which one is that?
As you can see in my signature I’ve been scratch building No. 5 for years! But as a complete beginner and never even attempted as much a brass kit. It’s been a struggle.
I’ll be getting back to it soon.
Keep the build photo’s coming very interested.

Hi Ade, yes it is No 5s boiler you can see in the background, and yes Adam it is in P4. No5 is being built using etches from a friend, but it is not a kit as such more a scratch builders aid as are the tram cars, these are from Worsley works.
I am hoping to have the layout 80 to 90% complete for Railex 2021, but l still have a long way to go.

Thanks for your kind remarks guys. This is the first thing l put up on thus site. Perhaps l should have put it in the new members forum. I'm not great at using these sites that's one of the reasons l have not joined before.

If you do Facebook, look us up on The Rail Thing - Wantage Tramway for more of the similar. This (WT) is a friendly group and you are doing just fine. The model looks good too.

Hi John, thanks for the link, l have put in a request to join the site. It was strange to find photos of my fledgling Wantage layout on there. I think these were taken at Railwells a couple of years ago.

Thanks also for the photos you shared. The photo l posted of Jane was actually taken from the back of the layout so it is looking out to the viewing side.

I believe that building was in your photo was Weedon Bros corn store.

I like the photos you took of the managers house and the rear of the church.

These are all buildings l have to build.
It's all knocked down and coverd by a Sainsbury store now except the office and the church.

thanks Robin, sorry about getting the view wrong, but you are right about it being the grain store I think.

Has the mystery of the shed side been resolved yet? When I made mine 30 years ago, there was one face we had no photos off.

and thanks for posting. I like to think we're fairly relaxed and there's no rules that says you have to post in the new members area. We'll find interesting modelling wherever it it is posted so here is perfectly fine and the standard currency is photos so you are off to a good start. :thumbs:

Hi John, the mistery of the shed l have resolved now l believe. Basically the left hand part as you look front on was a goods shed with sliding doors and a siding on each side. You can just make out the doors in one or two distant shots and l have an interior shot of the engine shed that shows part of the sliding doors right next to a loco in the shed. So the engine shed was built on to the side of the goods shed and they remained two separate buildings. Also in the Mill St end of the goods shed was a large double door giving road access at platform height. This can just be made out on the aerial view in Nick DeCoutais book. It's all research but it's good fun when you get results.

Yes the first car the bogie car is one the l am currently working on the other is No3. The car at the back of this train is No 5 this one l have already built.
It's a great shot taken l believe in the last days of the passenger service. I must post some more photos soon. Problem being they are on the computer at home and l am using my phone whilst out and at work with a cup of tea.

Hi this is the assembly sequence for Jane.
It was always a challenge to fit a motor in a 3 foot dia boiler and make everything hidden, anyway this was my solution.

Can I just be the first to make the request that you post full size images and NOT thumbnails please. It makes reading a thread soooo much easier.
BTW, if you need to change a photo or some text, there is an “edit” option at the bottom of all of your posts.
