A the end of 2011 I wrote about my progress and targets - added revisions now we are half way through 2012

Mainly garden based modelling for me this year. Off the top of my head I need to do the following

Tidy up ballast - Nope - Still not done, in fact more of it removed :(
Fit station platform (built) - Nope - Still not fitted, nor finished
Build platform shelter and lamp - Nope - Shelter built (bar roof), not even looked at lamp
Build platelayers hut and fogmans hut - Nope - Nope
Build Signal - Nope - Nope
Sort out remote control system for layout power - Nope - Done :)
Add in switches (wires already run) for lighting and smoke unit in hut - Nope - Done :)
Plant more bushes - Yup - Planted more :)
Run more trains :) - Yup - Oh yes :)

Modelling based activities:
Finish at least one Ruston 48DS - Started one.... Got it running...
Detail and paint Autoccoach - Nope - Nope
Finish the four G1 wagons that are built but need paint - Nope - Nope
Change wheels and gearbox on Pannier tank - Nope, just ran it instead - Still nope. Took it apart, put it back together again.

Get cracking on the EM layout as I currently do not have an indoor trainset (boo!) - Change of plan - OO trainset started, finished, shown and sold :) Still have no working indoor trainset (boo!)
Try and get a bit more S Scale stuff done. - Finished a display track - Stripped a layout in preparation for more work

Didn't achieve half of what I wanted to then  Aims for 2012 - just do some modelling and enjoy it. No targets, no deadlines, no pressure, just treat it as a hobby. Hope I can at least achieve that..... Yup :) So far so good anyway :))

Well at least I got one of them right :D And for the 37 I did get a Heljan Cl20, a Tower models Cl20 kit and a Bachmann 03! That sort of adds up to 37 I would say :p

For 2012 I'm going to predict something modest. Finally finish the layout electrics (you listening John?)(Halfway there), save up for a Heljan Cl31(started but it's taken third fiddle to a research unit 150 and a pre-ordered Dapol 08), finish painting my civ eng wagons (halfway done) and start & complete a brass kit for the first time (Nope. Not even started). I can choose between my PRMRP shark brake, Connoisseur 24t brake or a GJH Plant 'Super' GUV? I do have 2 x MMP 'Catfish' but I think I'll leave them for a bit, say 10 years (errr, now sold to a very nice chap in Switzerland)?

regards,

Mark

PS And more research into Bolton Great Moor Street station (Now this I have done :))

Once we get the house move out of the way then I can re-evaluate what I can do next. That'll be fun

I was waiting for that to get some reaction.....

Why? It was defining achievement in your modelling career to date.
Or is this a "Vienna" issue?
If I knew what a "Vienna Issue" was, I could say if it is....

 I hope you got what you were asking for it
Let's just say you could afford a JLTRT kit and have a fair bit of change left over..... ;) :D

I would guess Simon is referring to the 1981 single kept off the top spot by Lennon & Dolche where part of the lyrics in the chorus state 'It means nothing to me, This means nothing to me, Oh, Vienna'

Yes.
And no.
It was more a case that Ultravox began to wish they hadn't made Vienna, as they did other stuff but no one remembers any of it.
Although the lyric may also be an accurate interpretation.
"Lennon & Dolche"? Thought it was Joe Dolce - not his real name, but managed by Jasper Carrot at the time!

After the wheels and gears, I hope, but still not the same.

Oh well, your model, your choice.

I think John Lennon was at number one with Woman for one week then Joe Dolce with 'Shaddup you face' for the following three keeping Vienna at number two.
I was only ten at the time but liked Vienna and had it on a mix tape that we all seemed to make by recording the top 40 back in those days.

I remember my mate debating whether to buy "Vienna", or "Nightporter" by Japan..... I thought they were both utter dirges .... (although I do like a fair bit of Japan's stuff still..

Ooh, a list, I like lists. Here's mine:

Start building the groundwork for a new micro layout
– most of the baseboard is complete, I just need a turnout to start trackwork

Rebuild a Class 31 I bought by mistake
– HolymotherofGod, that is going to take a while and span several yearly updates...

Restore (and maybe repaint) a mistreated Heljan Class 47
– One method of removing paint tried, a second yet to be tested

Convert Triang Hymek to finescale
– have everything I need but railway time consumed by the 31 (see above) and 47

Sell everything I don't need or haven't got time for
– see ebay in a couple weeks!

That's me done. All of the above is O gauge.
Steve

Hope your gonna put what your selling, up on here first, Steve ;)
