Painting and lining

Whilst at Telford I collected this MOK Armstrong for painting, I also will have another 2 to do in the near future.
Although the model came stripped down I had to work out which bits could be refitted and any bits that needed unsoldering to aid painting.
The model was fairly dirty and there was quite a lot of excess solder to remove but after a couple of hours with a scratch pen and some wet and dry I have it something like.
It was then scrubbed with hot water and viakal twice and left to dry.

I am away for three days now so on Thursday I shall give it another scrub with viakal then a blast with the hairdryer. Then it will be ready for a coat of etch primer.

To be continued......

Today I have given the model an oxide red base coat, this is a gloss celulose paint and not a primer. It serves two functions, firstly as a rub down coat so that any bits of dust etc can be rubbed out and secondly as a base to the Indian Red frames.
Once I was happy with the finish I sprayed theIndian Red which is a mix of Midland Red and GWR chocolate to match Precision SECR frame brown.

Tomorrow the green will go on

The dome just sits on the base on the boiler top then is held with a 6ba screw, quite simple really

Here is the current situation with all the main colours applied, just needs the splasher tops and curvy bits of footplate brush painted black. The brass bits on the boiler are not yet fitted permanently yet.

All the fun of the lining next :)
