Cheers for posting those photos Steve, a quite stunning piece of modelling. Its still an ugly bugger in my book though :))
I think by the time he produces the Western he will have really refined his allready high skill technique.

My bold.

Oh yeah.
Excellent news :)
I have no need for one.
It will look stupid on my line.
Can't see that stopping me somehow :D
Simon - hows that line coming on :))

The track, the track (cue bells of doom from on high)

I hope to pick up some brass strip at Railex which will enable me to crack on with the stretcher bars, which is all(ish) that is standing between bare concrete and permanent way.

The D600 is a splendidly ugly machine, although I never saw one I feel myself being strangely drawn to it and may consider a purchase, although I don't think they ever ventured on to the "Withered Arm".

Well done to Fred, it does look utterly dreadful:thumbs:

Does he only model WR locos? I'm wondering if he could be tempted to produce a 24?

You could always ask him nicely, but please call it a Sulzer Type 2 like others of our generation firmly stuck in the past! You won't ever hear of a D600 being referred to as a Class 41.

I still want one of his Warships (production D8xx) which seem not to be available any more?

He started off with a strong personal desire to create the Class 22, and having met Bob Hunter who helped him with information and other assistance with the project, who is a real NBL fan, went on to do the Scots version, NBL Warship Bo Bo and now this.

A lot of time in recent years has been devoted to his superb Mk 1 coaches, and I think a "Western" is a real possibility if information can be got to Fred.

I have already spoken to Mark Humphrys who has very generously agreed to making his information available, just got to get it translated in to a paper format for Fred to consider now.....

Fred's models are always stunning, without reservation.

And cost wise, if you are prepared to pay £475 for a Heljan rtr offering, then an extra £150 or so is not a lot more
to pay.

The pre-production model looks wonderful in the photos, looks like I better start saving.....

Dreadful!!

Don't get me wrong Roger, it's just there is so much out there, so little time, money etc, as my 22 moves along i am starting to think about a Warship etc etc. overtime here i come :(, cheers Rob

The D600 looks great as said by all, I look forward to a Hymek one day along with a 122? bubble. Currently fighting with a TTA tank watched by D6356 on the shelf waiting more than just inspiration! I expect a D600 will be alongside for rainyday retirement projects! Better start even more saving as others have said, thanks Fred

A quick update, I had reason to speak to Fred today and inquired about the likely availability of the D600 kit. Fred reckons no more than six months, start saving, cheers Rob

As i mentioned in the Larkrail thread the man himself Fred turned up with a freshly minted body for Steve (Tiger Viking) Harrod, now i'm not sure my phone camera really does it justice but here goes,

The quality of this is absolutely stunning and words and pictures really cannot do it justice, i did speak to Fred and all i will say is when the kit is available i have my name on the list, somewhat larger than a 22 so bags of room for R/C gear, sound systems etc.

Should Fred ever get round to doing a Western.........

Cheers to all, Rob

Saw the first D600 fully finished as Ark Royal, at G1MRA yesterday stunning, he also had Warship kits available to order but they do take time as he prepares each one to the name you specify

I think you will see Fred take a break for a while now, the hint was a Western next and that has taken a bit of persuading according to Bob.

But i will be in the queue :)
