Cellulose and Synthetic paints in pots and cans - web link corrected

There are regular queries about the supplies of cellulose and other paint types in pots and spray cans... by reference to either railway colour or BS (or similar) specs. I use a one-man band in Tadley:-

- Paintshop Products, unit 37, Youngs Industrial Estate, Aldermaston, with this web link.

This guy takes pride in the supply of paint to match a specification, recipe, "name" or just a battered panel from what have you.

My most recent request was for a paint to match the matt finish on a 1943 Dodge WC... I took along the hood as a sample. This supplier uses his experience and a Mk.1 eyeball... and took four goes over one hour to match the sample. I had a colour card sprayed with the supplied paint and I cannot see any difference between the colour card and the vehicle body colour. Along with supplying the paint in a spray can the chap recorded the paint mix on his computer alongside my name / post code - if I need more then a telephone call gets the a repeat paint mix.

As a recommendation, Beaulieu Motor Museum uses this supplier for matching and supplying paint for use in the museum workshops.

regards, Graham
