Brilliant picture, thanks Adrian...

I seem to recall that the picture I was thinking of had the WT to the right of the picture, but I think this is better... I'm guessing the chimneys were for fires underneath to prevent the water freezing?

Next up for some serious attention will be the station building and platform canopies. PJH's mock up of the station building which has appeared in a number of photos here has been tweaked to fit the site without straying too far from the dimensions of Chigwell station on which it is based.

So far I have created a 3D drawing from which we can extract the laser cutting drawing for Phil H-P (no pressure Phil).

Building assembly 1.JPG

The columns supporting the platform are pretty intricate and I haven't finished the detailing yet. They will need to be 3D printed and then cast in brass.

However we do already have the brackets etched which support the canopy beams. Despite PJH's desire to make everything dead accurate, the drawing for this etch was traced over a photo of a similar bracket at Newbury Park, suitably de-skewed in Photoshop. I was surprised how well it came out. Nobody seems to want to check the dimensions anyway.

you've been busy John, all looking really good. I going to see PH tomorrow so will get the latest list of changes for you; I believe he said the chimneys were a 1/4 mm to short on the mock-up;)

The column took a few hours as there were a number if things on it I hadn't drawn before. Still quite a bit of detail to add.

I have some thoughts about putting a tiny camera in each end of the push pull train and transmitting the pictures to a TV screen over the layout if it ever gets to an exhibition. If so we really need to get the under canopy detail as good as we can. Expect the scrolled leaves to appear at the top of the columns.

John,
All looking very good mate, some work in that column( just a few lines on the page as Peter would say:rolleyes::D)

As for the camera in the train will it be a scale version of a Panavision :D

Col,
Merry Christmas.

From drawing to reality part 1.

Phil has cut the major parts for the stations and it all slotted together nicely. Now I have to draw phase 2 which consists of the roof (lots of gables), the window frames and the platform side of the staircase wall and the staircase itself. Tim (he of Mudhen fame) has suggested printing the interior wall detail which seems the way to go.

Now I must finish those columns

A couple of rough shots of the station building in situ. Over to Peter Hunt for the hard work.
