Haven't posted anything for sometime, but I have been busy. Back in December I thought that I would do a quick mod to the old Hornby H 33 Restaurant Car taking off the moulded handrails etc as I had done to the brake third. I also thought that I'd go a stage further and paint it Maroon only to find out that the GWR altered the windows in 1939. As I had already started I thought in for a penny in for a pound and ordered Comet sides the build can bee seen here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/92858-h-33-restaurant-carriage-finished/

Today I finished it and here is the finished result Not quite up to some of the standards on here but I fairly proud of it.

The final 2 shots are of its first outing on the layout.

Hi Alan,

very nice, it gives me the jolt I have been needing to get back to my H33 to S&T Inspection saloon conversion.

cheers

As I have mentioned I have decided to change Wencome into a terminus. After many months of prevaricating I have started. The first job was to place the turntable. which involved cutting out the well and lowering it.

As you can see there have been a few miscalculations as to the exact positioning and I'd also lowered it 3mm too much, so out with the 3mm cork.

After the glue had set and weights removed Turntable and track were just placed to check that everything lined up.

And I couldn't resist putting a loco on the turntable

Its going to be fascinating watching you bring on the changes to the layout Alan. Must have taken a gulp of courage to start on the demolition and lifting, a brave move to modify what you already have :)
Is the plan still like this one you posted on RMweb last year?

Thanks Steve. Yes it did take a bit of bottle, the idea has been at the back of my head for nearly a year, and I wasn't prepared to start until I had a good idea what the layout would look like, which is basically what you have posted above. I am still pondering what to do with the left entrance to the Wencombe ( the two cottages and hump back bridge) as I have decided to do away with the idea of keeping a continuous run element. I have 2 ideas, both involve making that board smaller in length and width and lowering it so it could include 1) part of a harbour or 2) a beach with hotels over looking a promenade.

Crumbs, Doctor Beeching has certainly been wielding his axe , but I'm sure it will be fine in the end.

My you have been busy Alan

In an earlier post you mentioned a harbour, I always fancied doing something based on Weymouth Quay complete with inlaid track and grotty warehouses, any chance you might be tempted to do something similar?

I'm still thinking how I can fit a harbour or quay in . I doubt very much, after a fair bit of thought, that it will be rail linked.

A bit more done, More track lifted, the continuous run has gone, also scenery being lifted in what will become a small harbour.

The last major bit of scenery removed. Hatched area is the possible size of the new harbour.

The end backscene will be replaced and moved forward some 2-3 inches
