O Gauge Name Plates E Bay

Hello, I have bought a couple of sets of these plates off Vince, class 33 "Eastleigh" and Class 55 "Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry" and I have to say they are nice and crisp, not sure what they are like compared to the types done by 7mill, but I am happy with them.

I will try and upload some pictures later.

Not connected in anyway to the seller, just a happy customer.

Craig.

I have seen these and with the greatest of respect they don't look as good as sevenmill if you want 100% accuracy.

I do like 7mill plates and recommend them, all of the time for my steam builds.

Could you pop a photo of both types of plates up so we can all see how they look together.

P1070688.jpg Hello Paul. 7mill Western plate and one of Vince's together. Really need a western plate from Vince to compare them.
The big thing going for Vince's plates are price.

Hi Chris, great pic to show they are both good quality, what is the difference on thickness between Vince's and Seven Mill ?

Best regards
Craig.

Hello Craig. 7mill = 0.39mm. vince's = 0,30. 7mill Jaguar plate = 0,30. As you can see my first attempt at painting the Jaguar plate, I was unhappy with, and am in the process of redoing it. Vince's plates are already painted which for me at the moment is a plus point.

May be Warren can advise on painting the Jaguar stainless steel plate (please)

Chris

What I do with Severnmill is first cut them out and polish the edges.
Then they are stuck to a piece of card with double sided sellotape.
Thin coat of etch primer then cellulose main coat.
After about an hour you can then usu 1500-2000 wet and dry flat on a flat surface to rub the paint off the characters.
For two colours such as GWR plates, re stick them to card, mask off the black part and then spray green.
For coats of arms ect , its a case of picking them out with a small brush.
Hope that helpsimage.jpg
