Hmm, I suspect a bit of old bubble-wrap might make better glazing than the DJH stuff, if my Deltic kit is anything to go by...

Check out the small adds in a couple of weeks...........
There could well be a blue DJH locomotive with a Clayton exhaust, Steph's bogies but no glazing.:(
Drivers window frame chipped and come away from the cab
My fault, should have quadruply checked the soldered joint before painting.
So near yet................

Richard,
I suggest investing in Loctite 480. Not cheap, but would certainly re-attach that window frame. Might even work to attach the brakegear to the bogies.

Richard,

There is a stockist of most of the Loctite products in Basingstoke... used to be Bearing Supplies Limited, now got another name... near to the Boots distribution depot.

I recollect that 480 is to be found in their office " 'fridge ".

I'm just under tough negotiation with my wife for fridge space!
I think I may have to trade the fiddle yard in the utility room.

Perhaps a purchase at the Reading show next week!!

I wonder if I can find a stall selling Valium ?
You won't get 480 at reading, it's a specialist adhesive, E bay is your best bet, but ask them for the to tell you the use by date on the bottom of the bottle, get them to send the information via Ebay messaging so you have a record, because if it's past that date....and it quite frequently can be as this stuff doesn't exactly fly off the shelves....you can send it back.

No use by date, no sale!

I paid £40 for my bottle, I'll never use it all by 01/16 but it's the best adhesive I've ever used and as Steph says, it'll stick your etch back on no problems, it's perfect for that sort of thing.

I did a load test on two 0.010" strips stuck together, it easily took 2Kg and did not split, then I did a peel or torsion test and the brass split before the joint gave way. As with any adhesive, make sure you prepare your surfaces, I've had a few fail, probably down to greasy finger prints or something, but on the whole it sticks like :shit: to the proverbial blanket.

Mines not stored in the fridge and seems to have no ill effect, I'm banned after one bottle of super glue split and stuck all the food to the tray in the freezer! If it's going in the fridge, then I strongly suggest you put in it's own little tuppawear box.....that will also appease the domestic gods as well.

Thanks Mick.
I may nip round to the place Graham suggested.
I'm just wondering if I may just strip back and re-solder the frame. It's chipped anyway:(
The engine room glazing panels were cut and glued in (glue & glaze) in around 1/2 hour and look very nice.
I'm about to slurp a couple of glasses of cava with my dinner, so I will probably get a rush of bravado and go for the soldering iron!
