Intro - Melbourne, Australia

Hi All,
Joined recently, so thought I had better introduce myself.
Born in Bristol, but now in Melbourne, Australia. I model in 7mm FS a fictitious representation of North Somerset, the layout named Woodleigh-sub-Mendip. A web search for the layout name should show up some earlier photos and history.
Whilst I originally modelled GWR, I have moved the timeline to now late 1940's through to 1960's, still however all early BR(W). The time range came about with the purchase of a Heljan Hymek D7000/Class 35 recently. I am converting my locos to DCC with sound and fortunately as it's a branch layout, I haven't got a heap. Having said that, the cost of a DCC decoder with a sound file isn't exactly cheap for 7mm.
My principal interest is scenery and architectural modelling, hence little runs even after 20+ years! The layout is a tad whimsical, with buildings and place names that are nostalgic to me.
As for Westerns, of the 50 introduced in 1961, I only saw 18 according to my 1962 Ian Allan Combined edition. Well remembering them and Warships squealing in Bristol TM particularly from the Weston-super-Mare end.

Welcome aboard! Nice to see a little flurry of new members from Australia.

As you know, we like pictures. Pictures of your structures and buildings will be welcome!

Hi guys,
Doing me best this end to post some photos, but the forum Gods aren't being kind to me.
I managed to attach a file, but the image was upside down (no sniggering Mr. Lewis about the antipodes)
I've tried again several times and it's telling me the file is too large for the server, so not sure what the next move is. Obviously doing something wrong...

Sounds like you need to reduce the size of the files. Not sure what computer you use but Irfanview is free and easy to use for Windows, Preview works fine on a Mac. For most photos 800 x 600 is big enough for viewing on screen, if they are special you can go bigger but not too big as you have found. You can PM me if you need more help.

Just as a test, I hope this image comes to you at the right size and the right way up!
It did and it looks good.

One small point - you don't need to enter anything into the threadmark label box with every post. This feature is really for lengthy threads allowing people to index them to a limited degree - see my notes here
Threadmarks

If you click on the threadmark reference at the bottom of the post is should pop up a dialog box to allow you to delete the threadmark.

Thanks.
Reduction in file size is one thing, but my iMac's wish to randomly decide whether it will display correctly or invert is another. Leave it with me, I'll soldier on and post some images.
The photo and model look good. If using Preview on the Mac you can control the orientation of any pictures wanting to turn sideways by using Rotate left (command L) then Rotate right (command R) on the Tools menu, or vice versa. They should then stay the way they should be.

Appreciate I can manipulate rotation of image in Preview however the problem has been that currently sending image attachments to emails, the recipient has found irrespective of the orientation viewed at my end that some or all the images are 180 degrees out. Hence my remark regarding confirmation of orientation.
Glad it came out right way up
