Thank you for all the kind comments and likes which are very motivating.

...The judges were...

Thank you Simon but in fairness the layout wasn't in a finished state at the time and I would have struggled to complete it as my unexpected and protracted house move really put a spanner in the modelling works.

But there's a silver lining in that without the pressure of a deadline I've been able to experiment a lot more, especially with the Arduino control which has turned into something much more sophisticated than I'd imagined (more details to follow.) Arduino was new to me when I started work on the layout - Arduino has so many features/facets and hence possibilities that even now are only dawning on me.

I know not making it through to the final round of the competition was a blow and upsetting at the time but I'm glad you have bounced back so well.

I for one would like to see a second round of cameo layout judging for those that were not finished for the first round. There are some great layouts nearing completion now.

I agree, Dave. Of course, I know nothing of continental railways so wouldn't be in a position to comment anyway, but to not show modelling of this standard would be a real shame. Anyway, if you include those containers only you and I will know, Chris.:D

Was the van used as troop transport during WWI - 40 Hommes / 8 Chevaux?

Mmm, I'm not sure. It would make sense but according to Ree the plat belongs to époque II which I thought started around 1925.

Meanwhile, rule #1 didn't provide much solace so...

A block of blue foam carved to shape (and hollowed out to accommodate 42.5g of lead weight), covered in a layer of AK Interactive Dried Sea Grass (AK8045) and then covered with tarpaulins made from kitchen film first sprayed with Tamiya Flat Green (XF-5) and all held down with threads of fine EZ Line.
