Crankpin nut fixing (n00b alert!)

This is a really n00bish question, so I apologise. Also, this is for the kettle fans, so if oil-burners are your thing please move along, nothing to see here. ;)

Yesterday, after it was suggested, I acquired a couple of sets of CPL crankpin nuts to complement the 57xx build. They are very nice, just needing a run through with a tap to fit them on the Slater's steel 12BA crankpins. Much better than a bald 12BA nut, that's for certain.

Anyway, the n00b question is what's the preferred method of fixing the nuts in place? Do you dab a drop of solder on? Do you use Loctite or similar?

I'm at a bit of a loss as to what might be best, frankly. I know I ought to have the answer already, but it's one of those which I tend to leave out until I actually need to know, if you see what I mean.

Interesting. Thanks, Steph.

I think I'll acquire some suitable adhesive, but the idea of a dab of nail varnish or even paint is interesting.

I have used Loctite... or done the nut up tight against the sholder of the pin (aka end of the bush).

Heather,
both of the above! The CPL nuts that I bought yesterday have just gone onto the Brute.

Heather,
There is Loctite... and then there is Loctite... For your need I suggest that you want a Loctite product to lock a thread (aka Threadlock or Studlock).

243 works just as well as does a bit of paint. You just want something that stops the nut vibrating loose but is easily broken if you want to remove it.
