Brian's Great Phosphor Bronze Bonanza

my shopping list for RailWells now mostly consists of some decent phosphor bronze strip with which to replace the over stiff brass originally fitted as contacts. I shall also fit them to wheels on both sides of the bogies to avoid the "current through the roller bearings" scenario.

Hi Simon.

I have a HUGE (and I mean huge) quantity of Phosphor bronze shim here, in rolls. It's absolutely top quality, liberated when I shit a factory down a few years ago. I'll have to check the thickness but it may just satisfy your needs. I'll let you know the thickness tomorrow when I've put a micrometer on it. It's all 35mm wide and cuts easily with tin snips or an Olfa cutter. Available with my comps - just a nominal stamp from you for postage.

Watch this space, because I can provide to anyone on this group who'll find it of use - same situation, for the price of a stamp!

Thank you very much Brian and yes please if you think it'll do the job.

I'm glad you are OK after the factory business......

(Sorry)

No, I did shit down a factory. (Shut it down too). But it was a totally sh1tty job for a few months, to be sure. However, makes mental note to check his worms before hitting the sned buntto.

Anyway, have checked the 35mm shim. It's 0.14mm, appx 0.005". (I have double checked that's gone through the keyboard OK, and it appears to be correct). As I said earlier, it's 35mm wide and on a reel of about 2,000ft. Anyone who'll find some useful is more than welcome - it's all I can do to lift it - just let me know how much you need and we can exchange addresses via PM. I'd have thought that 1 metre would last a lifetime, but more available on request.

Will Steph be doing a roaring trade in under the (technical committee) counter deliveries at Telford this year?

If helpful I can bring some up to Telford and leave it with Steph to hand out as required. Just let me know. (S'pose I ought to check with Steph first, but on the basis that it's always better to apologise afterwards than ask permission beforehand we'll assume that'll be OK).

I could use some too please. I can collect from DALE METALS's Telford distribution centre.

I understand what you mean about the factory, there is no easy way to do shut like that.

If I'm forgiven for highlighting your petit faux pas, may I also ask for a petit morceau.

Merci!

Tell you what chaps.

I'll reel off a significant quantity and pass it to Steph on the Telford Saturday pm for him to distribute on my behalf! Let him know how much you need and he'll be able to cut it for you.

(Hope that's OK Steph?????)
