    1/32 Devoran Quay

Hi Julian, thank you for your kind comments. Yes, quite a “journey” in so many ways. Apart from anything else, when it started Cynric had only recently set up WT - such a tragedy that we lost him. I bought the Slater’s van finished from the very talented Trevor Hale, so there are no details of...

    1/32 Devoran Quay

Started setting out the main line trackwork this afternoon, too cold to do much really.

    1/32 Devoran Quay

All sorted and test run all over the new "network", a bit unusual for a Gauge One line and requiring a decent fixing for the buffer stop(!) I have also made a start in fixing and levelling the new formation, my "Elizabethan" weights came in handy again....

    1/32 Devoran Quay

All the track section electrical connections made this afternoon, including the new section of line along the quay and the upper section of the incline to the main line. New section in shed, an extra sleeper has been inserted before the copper clad "inset section" and feeds soldered on. In...

    7mm Pencarrow - Cornish BR(S)

An utterly fabulous layout both them and now. Are you still in touch with Arthur who built the superbly believable (British Steel?) articulated lorry for the layout? I used to see him at the members days at Staplegrove back in the day. Where do the years go indeed.

7mm The Leather and Webbing Railway. All change again. Free layout for anyone who wants it.

Oh I really like the look and sound of this, hope you progress it. Your final line reminds me of one of my favourite singers and his lyrics; "a sense of humour is required - amongst our bacon rind" This what we find

A small country halt somewhere west of Middlesex

Blimey, talk about getting derailed by the detail police! I would go with your instincts, which are clearly pretty impeccable. Personally I think your original mock up had more visual punch than the watered down pathway, which as a visual feature is slightly so-what ish. As regards road...

A small country halt somewhere west of Middlesex

Absolutely, I work in 1/32 scale and it does require a less "landscape" approach (hence the garden!) I really like what you are doing here and seeing it “unfold” as you go along. Simon

The track was definitely in use by road vehicles in later years, it was used as access to the clay dries earlier on, I think. As you say, you have the Peter Barnfield print reversed, which is what makes it look strange to me! A great layout idea however you execute it. Here's the "real"...

    1/32 Devoran Quay

This afternoon saw the remainder of the wiring on the points finished, with the microswitches now in circuit to switch the crossing polarities. I next rigged up all the new track, making temporary connections with small clamps ahead of soldering after testing. First out was, of course, the...

    7mm Pencarrow - Cornish BR(S)

Great building, irrespective of methods of construction you have a very good "eye" for a structure and how it "ought" to look, I think. As regards likes etc, to be honest I had never noticed the bar above the clicky like, and that we had a range of "options", I have just been clicking "like" as...

    1/32 Devoran Quay

Dave’s first visit of the New Year saw some good progress made. The track sections were all made up and put into position for the line that goes up from the quay to the running line. It was a beautiful day.. Dave made up one new curved section while I soldered rail feeds. Checking alignment...

St. Breward Junction - ex LSWR in the Camel Valley

Hang on mo chaps, you are busy tilting at an “aunt sally” set up by Joe’s garage. Nobody on here is saying or has ever said anything about exactitude being the end all of anything. We are, on WT, already happily each to our own - no need for preaching or having to state credentials here!

Wildlife in the garden - Spring and what is this bird?

Here's the very handsome Harry from next door, I picked him up and placed him on the wall to his own garden after a while.

7mm , Blackney, A Glimpse of the Forest

A look at David Hyde's file reveals the following photographs taken by David. P18 Reading 1976 P18 1976 poss SVR This is a P17, but shows the same livery I would think, Reading 1965. Script lettering possibly remaining GW or if not GW style? A reference of numbers. There is another v poor...

    Paul Townsend's thread

Very nice to hear from you here Paul. I think your two contributions above will likely stand forever as the most "action packed" posts ever made on this or any model railway forum! Simon

7mm , Blackney, A Glimpse of the Forest

I agree with Jordan, Blackney really looks very good in the Railway Modeller article - well done. I was also very “taken” with the shot through the bridge, fabulous. It is really good to see your creation in print Alan, one of the most atmospheric and inspiring things to have appeared in...
