    Larkrail

Another highly enjoyable Larkrail. Time flew by so quickly that I didn't get much of a chance to look. So many excellent layouts but Sheep Dip, Arcadia and the wonderful Arun Quay really stood out for me. A special thank you to Steve Cook for coming to the rescue with a pack of Evergreen strip...

    Larkrail

Thoroughly enjoyed the day and really nice to meet up with old friends after a few years. The refreshments were first rate, especially the cheese salad sandwich:bowdown:. York in 2mm is simply stunning. Thanks to Simon and Jerry for putting such a great show together. I've finally decided to...

    Praising good traders

Howes of Oxford always come up trumps for me. I've sent a few orders for Railmatch Paints over the last few months and they always arrive within 48 hours. I know they've already been mentioned but I can't leave out Eileen's Emporium or the excellent service from Modelu. Considering I work in...

    3mm odds & ends

Hi Robert, Sorry, just realised exactly who you are :D. This layout will be somewhat shorter than CC. It has to be to sit in the new railway room. I'll post progress but for now I'm amusing myself on odds and ends such as this new coal lorry which started life as a Svezda Opel Blitz WWII truck...

    3mm odds & ends

This thread started in the members area but I've moved it here commencing with the latest post. Well now, the new workshop has been in use now for a few months and after a few wagons it's back to making buildings for the new layout. This will be a fairly minimalist...

7mm , Blackney, A Glimpse of the Forest

Just catching up on the forum so apologies for late reply. I've boobed on brake gear too but far worse was when I was finishing a wagon late one night and was painting the end door diagonal stripes.....one side done on left side end, flip it over, do the same......oh dear! Why I didn't notice...

    3mm Scale, Chipping Compton

After it's exhibition debut at Swindon in September a boyhood ambition has finally been realised as Chipping Compton is in the latest Railway Modeller. It's at Warley in a couple of weeks so any Thunderer's in the vicinity are welcome to come along and introduce yourselves.

    Larkrail

A thoroughly enjoyable day yesterday at Larkrail. Nice to meet up again with the usual bunch of friendly folk that help make it such a special point on the calendar. Actually managed to do some modelling too so that's not bad! Spent some dosh in a certain nearby book emporium and grabbed a...

    3mm Scale, Chipping Compton

Whilst I've looked in fairly frequently I haven't posted in quite some time. Feeling a bit more like my old self and I've been busy getting Chipping Compton into shape (finally!) in time for it's debut at Swindon in September. There have been times when I could've cheerfully taken an axe to it...

YATE MODEL RAILWAY SHOW, 31 JANUARY 2015

An excellent show as always and Jerry's micro layout (micro in more ways than one....it never ceases to amaze me how these 2mm chaps get such beautiful running:-) I'm seriously thinking of doing a 3mm variation of the "Inglenook" theme. It'll get something running whilst slow progress is made...

Prototype Excellent video - blue diesel alert!

Apologies if this link has already been posted but a wonderful video for lovers of BLUE diesels . This brings back happy memories of this station. I do wonder why a few loaded minerals are being attached here though.....not locally generated:confused:. Bob

    3mm Scale, Chipping Compton

At Larkrail I took the station end board along as a static piece to show progress. Whilst there I took the opportunity to take a couple of photos with my mobile phone. They're not great but I look forward to being able to point my camera at it outside in the sunshine to get better results. No...

    Larkrail

A truly excellent show and one Gruntfuttock (Rich, who was once a WT'er) and I really enjoyed. Well done Simon and helpers . The weather was absolutely horrendous at times but that didn't put the punters off...did I hear figures were up on last year? Great layouts and chatting to...

Full Size New Parcels stock book

I'm with Daifly on this. Whilst I use Amazon for some CD's etc I still treasure our independant book trade. It looks like that nice Mr Castens will be relieving me of some of my hard-earned dosh come August :'(. Still, at least some of his profits go back into the model trade:D. Bob
