Hi,

I've been getting to the really interesting part - teaking the sides.

First 2 pictures. The side has pretty much been completed with the addition of hinges. These were sections of strip wood (offcut) glued in with Titebond. When set, superglue was added to each side of the groove to reinforce the joint and the 'hinge' was filed back when the superglue had set.
The side was cleaned with a new stick in a fibreglass brush and then a coat of Rustin's sanding sealer was brushed over.

The whole side was wire-wooled (fine) and brushed clean, and a coat of Ronseal teak woodstain was brushed over. This was put on as thinly as possible, and great attention was paid to it not pooling in the corners, and being brushed with the grain. This is where we are now with the stain hardening off.

Now, I'm looking for a tired, post-war coach, so I don't want a bright 'orangey' finish. I'm tempted to leave it where is is, but I think there needs to be a bit more variation in panel colour, and it needs to be a bit darker - I shall be lining the beading. I shall let it dry overnight while I ponder.
