17753 Llanelly Dock.

Here at Crymlyn A Shop the foreman has been away on holidays.
However on his return he was pleased to see that some of the boyos, namely Percy Veerance and Dai the Paint, have completed the branding of the second Toad for the Great Western Railway Company contract.
Here 17753 "Llanelly Dock" can be seen in the sunshine outside the shops.
We wonder how long it will stay this clean when it enters traffic.
Let's hope our foreman doesn't see it! Note the star indicating a specially weighted van is upside down and not as shown in Atkins et all "History of G.W. wagons".
I'm not sure why the underframe has come out in a different shade in the picture!
The van is built from a PECO kit with custom transfers from RAILTEC.DSC_2535.JPG img244.jpg

Hi Davey4270

Just joined WT and came across this thread, where did you find the photo of the Llanelly Dock allocated toad and do you know of any other GWR era photos of toads branded Llanelly or Llandilo Jct?

Kind regards
Ian

Hi Ian.
I’m not sure which book it was in but I found another poorer picture which I’ll try to post. Apparently there were three consecutive numbered and were heavily weighted to give extra braking force. The star indicated extra weight and on the specimen I selected was applied upside down with the star pointing down.
