I've started to take an interest in the York of my childhood. Whilst searching the internet I've found this rather wonderful set of black and white images from the York Press (Evening Press as it then was) sorted by date. There are a few with the railway as their subject but most are of the city. Many inspire me to start making buildings but a few are just wonderful in their own right. Here's a fabulous portrait of a policeman which says much about the changes which have taken place since then. There's an authority and dignity about the man which you don't see these days.
