At long last I hope this is the last post with nothing to show as the wheels for the loco are being reprofiled by Christopher Makepeace (very nice chap) and etched wheel inserts by David Gosling will be fitted by myself (Chris has just press fitted one in and it looks the dogs ). So piccies of the wheels will be posted next week with I hope regular updates as I succumb to the dark side.

Hi Pete

257 Squadron is a loco I have access to - it's in bits at the moment - so anything I can look at/photograph for you let me know.

After a talk to Dan tonight I decided to make a start on the wheels as there is alot of flash in the holes on all the tender wheels and a couple of the bogie wheels so I duly measured the hole diameters and drilled them out with the respective drill. I am also fitting David Goslings etch overlays on to the wheels and have fitted one at the moment to a driver and it certainly bulks out the wheel center to the rim  (the wheel cranks are also set to 120 degrees). When I aligned the tender wheel overlay onto the wheel I noticed that on the overlay the holes are a tapered oval as on the drivers but the slaters tender wheel is just a 3mm hole so extra work will be needed to get wheel hole to match the overlay :headbang:. I will post some photos later in the week when I can remember how to post them on this site.
