2mmfs Kyle Of Lochalsh (an Extract)

Hello peeps

Been away for a while but since moving back to London with the family last year there has been little modelling progress. I did start to build a 7mm turnout but have put that on ice as I really need to try and finish other projects first...Kyle being one of them :D

I have now redone the back scene for the layout and it now includes a complete new fascia which conceals some lighting...some further tweaks are required to the scenery including reinstating the bridge handrail and filing in the small white triangle where the back scene stops but it was test run after a 4 year period of gathering dust and it seems to still work ok.

I am now beginning to plan the fiddle yard and to help I built a mock up to test the principles I would like to employ. Sketches and ideas are also included here. It includes a small slot at the front for the tray to pass through and give sneak views of some of the rolling stock ;)

I have just committed to exhibit this layout at the Burgess Hill Model Railway Club one day exhibition on Saturday 16 May 2015 so I had better get a wiggle on. It's first (and only) appearance was there in 2010 so 5 years on its had a few upgrades and hopefully looks better than its first outing.

I like that, a neat idea.

Good to see you and your layout back here and welcome.

Be aware that most of the 2mm mob legged it back to RMweb a while ago although we still see Jerry around the place from time to time:p

Here's a pic I took a few years ago that I still quite like...

It was taken on an iPhone 3GS whilst balancing standing on a desk as the layout used to be fixed to the wall at high level to make space below. It's the old Farish 37 and the streakyness was caused by the bad lighting...but actually I always quite liked it as it looked like sun trying to appear through the rain clouds...

Get away with you..... model indeed   we really don't like this practise of posting pics of the real thing and pretending they're models.... & it seems to the 2mm/FS mob who do it the most.... ;) :))

That's a very convincing shot Pete, all the more remarkable considering this loco is only about 6 inches long!

Thanks Steve - am also impressed at the quality of phone cameras these days too...that was an iPhone 3GS...only 48 hrs to the 6 unveiled ;)

Absolutely!!
The 37's are one of those classes that seem to look good in almost any livery, but Largo Blue was surely one of the best...??!!

Can't agree more Jordan...I also think the LL looked good on the class 50's too but a Scottish LL 37 does take some beating... :)
