OK collective, know it's a bit 'eleventh hour' but.......

If you happen to find yourself in the Reading area this Saturday (12th) you might want to pop into the Rivermead Leisure Centre, Reading between 10:00 - 16:30 hours to view the larger scale goodies on offer.

Full list of participants & activities found here....... Association of Larger Scale Railway Modellers for those of that persuasion.

    Hope to see you there

I think it's a fair guess that a lot of Thunderers will be there

Not me unfortunately - it clashes with a kiddies party... :(

To all that can make it, enjoy!

Obviously you should all come to Reading to see my Cameo competition entry: Aldeburgh Harbour, but there is also a far more interesting layout: Hambledon Valley Railway. It's 16mm, and live steam, but throw away any preconceptions. The locos are radio controlled, running dead slow, and shunting wagons using automatic coupling. You can actually see the Walschearts valve gear go into reverse before the loco backs up. With nice scenery and an apparent reason for its existence, it would be ideal for the Cameo competiotion, if it weren't about twenty feet long

So a collection of red shirts at the Hambledon Valley again . Will see as many of you there as can make it .

    Cheers Ian

For those able to attend, would somebody be kind enough to visit to the Dapol stand, see if they have any pre-production Class 121/122 DMUs on display and grab a few pictures please? :)

Edit: The same goes for Lionheart Mk1s too.

No Mk1s to see, but the 122 and brake vans look nice :)

Thank you Dave & Mr Grumpy.

I must confess, I'd forgotten about the Dapol brake vans - they look pretty damned good, as does the Class 122. :)

To be honest, the Darstead MK1s looked much better ‘in the flesh’ than I thought they would. Be interested to see how their suburban span out.

    It was very quiet though...
The car park didn't seem to get more than half full and inside I think even this year's Kettering would have looked fairly energetic in comparison.

Still, it did mean that traders were free to talk, and wander around.
