Well, its been fairly quite at the moment as I have been clearing out my garage (well there's no way you could get a car in there) and installing the layout in it. Also been working on the PLYMGOG new layout (apparently I'm the groups signalling expert ) so not much time for progressing my own layout. However, I have managed to drill all the baseboard holes for points/signals/wiring and have started adding dropper wires to the track components ready for the actual wiring. Hoping to show some more progress photographs when track installation starts!

Appologies for the delay in my response, bit like progress on the layout really. I'm currently working on the signalling on a grown up preserved railway and what with that, and work on my groups exhibition layout, I've had no time to progress my own layout. Hopefully things will slow down a bit soon, and I'll start posting updates again. Next task is track laying. Probably thinking about radio/wireless control as well (I have invested in a PROTOCAB MINERVA PANNIER to try it all out, and I'm very impressed so far).

I'll start posting updates once I get going again.

Well' a lot has happened since my last post. As mentioned on my CRAMMIT INN YARD layout topic 7mm - CRAMMIT INN YARD I had abandoned work on this layout due to frustration with fitting the PECO trackwork into the available space and scrapped the lot. Now then, I have since been inspired and fired up again by various small layouts on here (e.g. Polsarrett) and have decided to reactivate the BLACKBRIDGE TOWN RIVERSIDE layout idea but starting afresh, at the same time moving it into a spare bedroom rather than housing it in the freezing at times garage (or storeroom if you like - you would never get a car in there).

A couple of years ago I purchased two Tim Horn scenic baseboards which I put into storage (the loft). I have dusted those down and laid them out with my proposed trackwork which is a bit different to that previously shown at the beginning of this topic.

The two baseboards are 1220mm long by 457mm wide so a total length of 2440mm.

Here is the layout plan.

Town Layout 457 Boards 01_01_2022a.jpg

At the RH end is a two level goods yard with a warehouse (shown in GREY) on the upper level (shown in GREEN) being reached by a wagon hoist and wagon traverser which will be mounted on a separate sub-baseboard 735mm long so that the electrical hoist and traverser workings can be accessed easily on a workbench.

The blocked trackwork at the rear of the layout is the fiddle yard reached by a Sector Plate (shown as a BLUE line) at the right-hand end, all hidden by a retaining wall (shown as an ORANGE line).

Other scenic items can be easily identified on the layout diagram.

Here is a photograph of the layout with the trackwork laid out and some rolling stock positioned to ensure everything fits. The DMU is sitting on one of the fiddle yard sidings. The left hand wagon is on what will be the parcels platform. The goods train is sat on the sector plate and the right-hand wagon is sat where the wagon hoist will be.

Hi Chris, glad my not so quickie layout has proven to be some inspiration to you getting going again. That said, my "go" has been somewhat patchy over the Christmas period!

What you now have should give you hours of shunting fun. Will be watching with interest.
