BFK 17023 is running in one of the general service sets on the Mid-Hants Railway. The photos in this post are of the interior of the luggage area and Guard's office - all of the window bars have been removed. To help with interpretation of the photos, this carriage is dual heat and dual brake (ex BR).

Towards gangway. The brackets in the ceiling are the attachment points for the luggage cage (removed).

Guard's office to show gauges and pipework associated with brake setter and test cock. The top gauge is for the vacuum brake and the lower gauge is for the air brake. The test cock for the air brake is to the left of the air brake gauge and the brake setter for the vacuum brake is below the air brake gauge.

Move along the coach please... to a First Class compartment. Whilst I have no proof one way or other that the upholstery is ex-BR material the pattern does appear in the Bluebell Railway web site pages on moquettes where the pattern is recorded as circa 1960s, link courtesy of Bob (@Bob-65B) .

With the arm rests recessed into the seat back.

Just as much interest in the corridor. To start with, there is this neat and tidy plate, in galvanised steel, which is located between compartments and on the outside of the corridor screen. I have no idea as to the reason for the plate although there is a "fitting" on the other side of the screen - given that this is a carriage with ETH then the "fitting" may be for temperature control when the heating is by ETH rather than steam.

Just to make life interesting... there is a wood trunking which goes over one of the plates, as here.
corridor-b.jpg

There are several heaters on the corridor screen, placed between the door jamb and the limit of travel of the adjacent door.
corridor-c.jpg

Whilst there are four compartments, there are only three heaters on the compartment side of the corridor.corridor-d.jpg

On the outside wall of the corridor there is a heater which runs the length of the passenger compartment area.

The "heater" is finished with a natty end, as here by the Guard's office.corridor-f.jpg

As far as that plate is concerned you are right enough - it's gives access to the detector part of the (electric) compartment heater thermostat..... The wooden trunking - goes back to the original build and contains the cables from the distribution fuseboxon the underframe to the electric lighting circuits via the roof space above the ceiling panels.
