Christmas past

I recall a Christmas past when Mr & MrsD bought MasterD a second-hand HD set including a Dutchess of Atholl.

And Christmas Present, where MrsD the younger said “that’ll be your Christmas Present” when she saw what I bought from the BnB at Reading.

Oops, not that one, too big (pre-apologies if I’ve trodden on someone’s copyright)

That’s better.

It appears to be a Gladiator kit, with a Premier chassis. There’s a bag of detail bits to “do” the chassis. I’ve not yet examined it in detail, but it’ll need a bit of work to get close to Pete’s (PAD) beautiful build.

Lovely as it is, I t doesn’t fit my 1930’s GW modelling theme at all!

It’s all nostalgia! Happy Christmas to one & all!

I still have my 1970s Christmas pressie secondhand Athol and 0-6-2 tank, and am I currently making three rail track. I do however believe two rail track will be the future of railway modelling one day...

Hi Tony, I too had the 0-6-2 tank, and a couple of rakes of tinplate coaches, complete with shiny windows!

I think it might have been a little before the seventies... maybe 1963?

All the best

How I wished for a Hornby something! I was bought Trix Twin, I suspect because dear father wanted to run two trains on the same track for some reason. Shades of DCC. Trix was far more expensive and less reliable in running because it was AC and locos would suddenly reverse for no reason. However, I was very fond of my D49, "Pytchley" which was kept for many years until sold to fund more up to date OO stuff. "Kitmaster" built up a non-running loco stock but probably started me on the route to model building. Then to 7mm, and once you've caught the 7mm bug it's difficult to move back.

Every good wish to all WTers and thanks for help throughout this year. I'll continue to need your help in to 2018.
