I really wanted to get on with the last turnout needed to finish off the goods yard, but I cannot find anyone who’s a Wizz with Templot willing to help which is a bit frustrating. And before any kind soul says to have ago yourself, I have spent many wasteful hours trying but the penny has never dropped!

Anyhow my good friend Mr Fay said in the mean time why don’t you get on with some scenery, rather than throw all your toys out of the pram in frustration :headbang:. So I have done a bit more around the skew bridge and up above the tunnel mouth, also the first tree has been planted. Trees are a nightmare to try and get right, so the jury’s out until I’m happy to plant anymore.

Hi Martyn,

The tree looks good to me:) I always find they look a bit stark in isolation and settle into the landscape better once they’ve got a few friends! The texture and colour of the lane is spot on, maybe a few wild flowers scattered amongst the undergrowth would enhance the scene:)

Looking forward to seeing more!

Martyn,

Let me know what you need doing in Templot.

Hi John, Dave.

Thank you both for your kind words, I do have another 5 trees in production so hopefully they will look a bit more convincing once placed closer together, just the one tree does stick out like a sore thumb so it is under more scrutiny at the moment. Hopefully the hedgerows and grass banks will have some willow herb, buddleia and various blossoms installed in the near future.

Martyn.

I have finally got round to finishing off the goods shed, I think one more day to carry out some weathering and some form of signage and we will be there. It’s based on a GWR design and is in use on a now private siding. There has been a couple of alterations, mainly the colour of the paintwork and no canopy over the cart dock doors.

The latest edition for Church Norton is this little concrete hut from Intentio, it took less than a day to finish and that includes the painting/weathering. An enjoyable small project to pass the hours away, in time it will be sited up on the platform.

Well it’s been a while, so here’s an update as to where I’m at so to speak. I thought I would have a go at the scenery to give myself a break from building trackwork , and I have found this to be quite therapeutic and enjoyable.

Anyhow I used my son’s phone to take these pictures and I cannot believe how much clearer and sharper the images are, so it’s going to be either a new phone or camera for me.

I’m after a break from the scenery now, so it will be on to loco building I think, either a Castle or a 2251? Decisions, decisions, wouldn’t have this problem if there was a decent kit of a 2884 ;).

Hi Malcolm,

Glad to see you have popped over from the other side, a bit more relaxed here I find.

There's plenty of nice people here to help you, so maybe you should make the move more permanent ;).

Cheers,

Martyn.

The latest track panels have now been laid towards Church Norton, and the engineering train is returning the empty macaws back to the p/way yard.

Hi Martyn
Excuse me for asking a question regarding you posting five years ago, I still have my "L-plates" on. What is the black underlayment shown in the pictures, is it only applied to the edges only or across the whole track ?

Regards, Chris F

Hi Chris,

Regarding the black underlay, yes it goes right under the track and it does deaden the sound, maybe to much if you like the clickerty click across the rail joints, my fiddle yard has just the normal cork underlay and that is quite noticeably louder.

I have just spent sometime looking for the supplier but to no avail, my memory is not what it use to be :(, but there are loads of suppliers on eBay etc. It is called closed cell underlay and the one I brought was self adhesive on one side which I found an added bonus. Thickness starts at 1mm so loads of choice, I brought it in a roll from somewhere around Birmingham .

Hope this is of help,

Martyn.
