Couldn't you move the starter signal onto the platform to give more clearance at the point? I'm sure I've seen photos of GWR signals located like that. Would save a lot of rework.

Starter signals were indeed to be found on platforms. If the signalbox was also on the platform adjacent to the signal, the signalman could allow the loco to go beyond the signal to, for instance, fill up at the water crane (Llanuwchllyn). But my platforms are short enough and stopping short merely reduces the length of my trains from three to two coaches. And what if a Down train leaves the last coach fouling the 6' by the bridge? No, I gave all this much consideration and it has to be altered....or just stop the train further back...
