Scattergun Distractions - Gadzooks, I appear to have gone normal

I hear Rumpty - Tumpty, Tumpty - Rumpty BBC type type music, cue Alvar Liddell:

"....and another batch of locomotives rolls off the production line at Rushby & Hornby! Destined for export markets these fine products of British engineering and ingenuity will boost our balance of payments and will soon pave the way for electric light for all!"

Not sure that Alvar Liddell would have recognised let alone pronounced the exclamation mark - never mind, the discourse is right "on-track" for the Nine O'clock news.

Casting kit put away, and Little Point has taken it's place on my back up work bench. I started by attending to the sea, adding colour and the first of many layers of varnish.

I may have mentioned earlier on that Little Point was conceived whilst on holiday in Belgium; so naturally when thinking about the sea I would want one of these. Surprisingly little work over Monday and yesterday evenings turned this unlikely mess ....

..... into a more promising set of components.

For one moment there I thought someone was going to be exercising their little grey cells by the seaside:p

Your Inspector doesn't look very impressed... :)

I was hoping it might be one of the X-craft Midget Submarines. We've got a Thread somewhere that had "Midget" in the Title; I was so disappointed....  ;)

Morfa's loss is Little Point's gain. Faced by dissatisfaction and difficulties on my big train set I can swap to the small one. Last night I added a dorsal fin to the shark sub and sprayed the body grey.

I also broke out some of my collection of fibres and foams and started to apply them to the dune-scape.

I've tried hard not to overdo the vegetation, keeping it to areas where plant life is likely have gained a hold.

The Little Point Tramway boasts one named train, an unofficial one you understand, but a non-stop service at that. The Flying Flotsam runs daily or at least on days when weather conditions allow the fishing fleet to cast off and cast around for shoals of herring. It’s thought that the service was christened in 1924 when another east coast railway company inaugurated it’s own non-stop service. Like the Kings Cross to Edinburgh express speed is of the essence to the Flying Flotsam; the bloater paste factory in Great Tedium require their ingredients to be as fresh as possible.

More gentle tweaking today and a fence has appeared on the platform at Little Point.

littlepoint 60.jpg

I've used Ratio concrete fence posts intended I believe for cattle docks. I've souped them up a touch by reducing the tops a touch and then rounding them off roughly to correspond with the top holes. The rails are soft iron wire from a rusty reel I have had for years waiting for such an opportunity. I wanted to add some post war, austerity nastiness to the seaside at Little Point; I rather think this does it.

I do like your fish vans Neil, are they Rushby Resin specials or from another source?
Little Point is coming on a treat :)

I love that whole scene Neil - the lovely weathered wood of the pier, the sand & sea, rough patchy vegetation, the ramshackle station & that gorgeous little train - all absolutely superb modelling - very inspiring!

Little Point under a full moon.

littlepoint 65.jpg

Little Point has been on a wander round my playroom as the workbench it normally sits on is occupied by my casting paraphernalia. It's eventually come to rest on top of my bookcase. Being in a different spot has meant I've been seeing it from different angles. I came to realise that the room lights backlit the scene in a pleasant way so last night I grabbed a few hand held shots. This one with a bit of cropping gave the look that I wanted. Technically I suppose it's a bit pants, but it has a quietness about it which I like.
