1/32 Fred Phipps 12T vent van - available now

Fred Phipps has sent me some pictures of his new BR 12T box van kit (in 1/32 of course) which is soon to be released. It is of the standard we expect from the maestro and I particularly love the way he has modelled the corrugations. The kit will be complete with wheels (I assume you can choose which wheel standard). Fred is still waiting for the resin brake hangers and etched attachment links so those are missing on the pics. He expects these any moment now and then the kit will be available for purchase.

Not cheap but fantastic looking models of a much needed prototype.

Do you know if he has got any plans to come up with his own vac. hose and dummy castings?

These look like the same (10mm scale?) steam heat hoses that are supplied by Mercian with their 1/32 Clay Hood wagons for this purpose, and which really let the side down IMHO. I was rather counting on Fred to do something with these so that I could use his components on my other 1/32 vehicles...

Other than that, fantastic of course.

Ken Martin does Loss Wax Castings for steam and vacuum pipes, I have fitted these to my Hydra D as shown in this G1/32 section, here

I was going to say the same as Dave, Ken Martin's components are very nice, you can even connect them up with each other. If you want to see what they look like they feature on my PMV build on the "PMV Races" thread.

Going back to Fred's kit, I already have a first shot of the body I'm adding my own bits to and have my name down for four of the kits proper.

I'm hoping these might tempt a few of you smaller scale types into G1 waters, 7mm is sooo last year:p

It looks terrific Fred, I look forward to building a few up in the New Year.

One little question, did you say earlier that you were going to finesse the vacuum pipe that is shown on the van in the picture?

This project is just great news for G1 modelling!

I'm ready to take orders now for this van as all its parts are available. There is almost always some waiting time for brass castings
and boxes to be produced. By mid Jan, the first 20 should be ready to dispatch
