Interesting. I've heard of it but not used it.

I think the question that I would ask is "thermal expansion" as it will clearly be in the sun (if we ever get any) for some of the time and it would be good to know what allowances may be necessary.

I think that a couple of the guys on here have used that - Steve Cook has it on his raised line.

I've not used it for a garden railway, but I have used long lengths of recycled plastic "mock timber" to reinforce a path edge on a raised walkway in a garden open to the public.
In that application it behaved mostly like timber, except that its somewhat more flexible (can be good, can be bad), and isn't that good at taking screw threads, though it is possible to screw things to it. So, can be used like timber, but don't assume its exactly the same. Was somewhat expensive compared to standard timber. We used it because its rot-proof, unlike the previous timber which rotted in about four-five years due to the specific local circumstances. Didn't make any special expansion allowances, but we wouldn't have done for timber either in that situation.
