Gauge 1 in Utrecht

I've just returned from a very pleasant trip to Utrecht. Part of the reason was to visit Ontraxs held in the Dutch national railway museum. It's a fantastic venue for an exhibition and the quality of exhibits was top drawer. I was particularly taken by a couple of fully scenic Gauge 1 shunting planks, both running German outline stock.

Here's the setting.

Lovely stuff, just the sort of modelled G1 we could do with more of in Blighty, thanks for sharing.

WOW!

Roughly how big are those 'planks', please, Neil?
And did they have concealed 'fiddly yards'?

Thanks, David

The first two photos are of Kosmos Dosen which the internet and my schoolboy German tells me has a scenic section 135 x 45 cms and a similar sized fiddle yard. The second pair of photos show Vierheim Industrie which is larger though how much I'm unable to say as I haven't found any dimensions for it yet. There is however some youtube footage which may help give an impression of the overall quality if not size.

Hi Neil

Is one of these Michiel Stolp's (of Becasse Weathering) layout?

Tim

Possibly; when I googled Vierheim Industrie one of the suggested links was to Becasse Weathering.

Neither of them are Becasse weathering layouts, certainly not the ones I've seen used for photo shoots but he may have had a hand in weathering them.

I've a couple of Spur1 Flickr pages and I'm sure one shows more of both these layouts on their pages and I've grabbed them for inspirational shots. I'll dig the pages out tonight and add them here.

They do seem to embrace detail in Europe more than we do here, there's another page I have on a forum for a mega Spur1 layout but the detail is as good there but perhaps not as fine as these two.

Neil,

What a super show. We have put it in our diary for next year, see you there perhaps.
It is on the 9-10 & 11 March 2018. It is just one long days drive from here.

Thanks for telling us about it.

Paul.

Mickoo,

It's very hard to find because Google insists on 'correcting' one's spellings, over and over again.
The layout is "Vierheim Industrie" or "Verheim-Industrie" (NOT Vernheim)
by "Michiel Stolp" (NOT Michael, NOT Stolpe).

Here's a photo of the entire plank, including fidget extension:

and there are many more stunning views of it online. Whether there's the forum you wanted . . .

I don't recall calling it Vernheim or Michael Stople .

I had no issues finding it to be honest and found some more here Industrieanlage Vierheim von Becasse auf On traXS - Anlagenbau/Planung - Spur 1 Gemeinschaftsforum showing the build process.

The mega layout is here Kraansen - das Original von Cry Ensen - Modellbahnbetrieb Spur 0 - Spur Null Magazin Forum but it's O gauge which is why I couldn't find it in my gauge 1 links

Of course YOU didn't! I meant that Google did whenever I put the correct spellings in.

We'd been talking about two Gauge 1 layouts, and I must have misunderstood the combination of Message #9:
Here's the Flickr link to the larger of the two layouts.
(emphasis mine) with #9:
Still cannot find that forum with the big layout in :headbang:
Sorry! David
