I've seen references to the WT site on various other forums and thought I'd give it a go myself. Have to say I'm impressed by the informal yet informative nature of what I've read so far and not found any contentious or "political" stuff at all, as can be the case elsewhere (not that I'm looking for it, other than to avoid it, if that makes sense).
My railway interests are wide and various but the main focus comes down to two areas, the Midland Railway c.1910 and 1970s Western Region. I have had an O gauge branch line layout of the former underway in the garage for a couple of years and for the latter have just embarked on a 00 layout based on Penzance in the mid-70s, using pre-owned RTR stock and peco set-track. The latter is due to having been on family holidays in Cornwal in my early teens and become almost infatuated with Westerns combined with a wish to relive the simpicity of those early modelling (playing trains?) days.
Keep up the good work everyone. I need the inspiration.....

Welcome aboard! We, as a forum, do tend to avoid the political - something that occasionally blights other forums, to their detriment in my opinion. Being all about the modelling, supporting each other and learning new things no matter interests, scales or gauges is what I find the best thing about being here. I’ve also made new friends and acquaintances.

All we ask is lots of photos when you create a thread. We like lots of pictures.

That seems a good summary of this place, praise and constructive criticism in equal measure.

Worth remembering that Dave (@daifly) is the "go-to" WTer when you need to find something in the big wide ether and you cannot fathom an appropriate search string.

Welcome aboard, you will already have realised that we are a very easy going bunch on here and on occasion even get around to talking about railways and many other transport related subjects as well, which thankfully allows no time for even thinking about politics:thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

regards

Mike
