The ABS Dia.1 is from Mike's master.
Mike Osborne produced masters for LNWR single plank, two plank and three plank wagons, those masters are now with ABS as kits for D1, D2, D3, D5 and D6 wagons. Mike also produced masters for LNWR covered wagons to diagrams D32 and D33, those masters are now with ABS although not in production at this time because ABS believes that there is a need to amend some of the detail.

That's one way for a kit to disappear

Two kits John... the "error" goes one way on the D32 and t'other way on the D33. I did suggest to ABS that if the mouldings were cut in two (a la fitting chips to dark side stuff) and one half from each diagram put in the same box then maybe the errors would cancel out.... no way, who would ask for a D32.5 van?

Being serious for a mo, the un-availability of these two diagrams is a real pain to those of us who model late Victorian period or even the Edwardian period. So if 1880 towards 1920 is your interest then please keep asking ABS for these models and maybe he will get the message.

Maybe it would be more profitable mentioning this to Mike Osbourne ...if he is intending to do his own kits ?.

Do you know of any kits for the earlier Diagram 16 brake van?
I must have been asleep when you posted this question. I do not have any information in respect of your question, on the other hand I do have a question!

From what I recollect of the World of Basilica Fields there is no direct connection between the Extended Widened Lines and either the LNWR or the NLR. So does the D16 fit into BF?

The southern junction of the EWL is at Mark Lane (Tower Hill in old money) . The LNWR Outer Circle services terminated at Mansion House, but EWL services ran through to the junction and around the EWL to Broad St. It's all here.

We started the permanent way along the more traditional lines of laying sleepers / timbers first, then fixing chairs and rails to the woodwork with the last steps being colouring of sleepers and ballasting of the permanent way. Our discussions over the last few months have moved us round to the opposite approach... put the woodwork into place, colour as necessary, then ballast and finally rails and chairs. I guess that getting an appreciation of the effort that would be required to paint sleepers and ballast after laying the permanent way brought the matter to a head last week (in one of John's visits for discussing the way forward).

I have no experience of using ink for colouring sleepers so John has donned the mantle of Chief Scientific Office.... with the remit of finding a suitable, low-viscosity, agent for staining the walnut sleepers and timbers.

As well as colouring / staining the sleepers, John intends to try different means of colouring the ballast... to represent the traditional ash and slag ballast of the 1880s (goods line and carriage sidings) and the cleaner, sharper, appearance of the through lines (probably laid within the last decade of the 19th century).

Wot Rob says !!! .
I too have an ABS special tank kit in my stash and I have to confess that it was a scratchbuilt version purchased on ebay earlier this year that caused my deviation to the truely dark side!. Unfortunately it arrived damaged...but after a good "talking to" with a big soldering iron and some of Mr G's castings it has made a good recovery !....just got to change the brakes now.
The chimney on the precurser tank...is it the one supplied in the kit ?.....I need one and of course it seems to be the only LNW type not available from Mr G. !.
Cheers Tony.
