Hello From The West Mids.

Hi Everyone

This forum comes highly recommended and I have already spotted some familiar names of people who's work I really like so seems like a good start already.

For those who know me - hi!

For those who dont a little background of what I am up to. My goal is a simple one - to model Birmingham New Street and its eastern approach in P4 set in the years 1986-1987. Sounds simple enough when you say it like that hu? Thats it, my one and only goal, no other projects or anything. Given the title of the forum I am afraid I cant offer you any hydralics (sorry) but when I do hit the road (a long time from now) I will be happy to welcome visitors at shows.

I'll start a layout thread soon but i'll just have a mooch arround for a bit first.

Cheers

Jim

Welcome Jim, I have seen bits of New Street on Rm it looks to me to be a lifetime job but very good the trackwork is amazing. And you will fit into area51 with no problems.

Hi Jim, I think many on this forum will already be familiar with your work:). A warm welcome to you. I'm looking forward to seeing New Street in the P4 flesh soon as it was on old stamping ground in the later seventies/early eighties. I used to look forward to the trips from Stafford - hoping for an 82 or 84 for haulage in mid-week, or a 40 at the weekend (if very lucky!). Look forward to seeing some pics on here......(hint!);). Welcome aboard. Boris.

Welcome to the Mad House, all seats available... bar the back row where there are none.

Just thinking, we have 4mm models of Camden, Tring, BNS, Manchester, Preston.... any more on the West Coast route?

regards, Graham

Hi Jim, welcome aboard.

I thought of you just yesterday as I have been poring over your drawings of the Polybulker for the last couple of weeks while attempting to build one!

Looking forward to seeing pictures of BNS.

Um. while there is the existing Tring (isnt it in Australia?) we have Tring on our list as one for one of the fronts for the shared fiddleyard. Theres Liverpool lime street too as well as Carstairs. (my new street isnt the first one either but sadly Dons miniture New Street was dismantled after his death). Isnt there a 7mm scale version of Coventry too?

I guess the big gaps are Euston, Crewe and Glasgow then!

Thansk for the welcome guys and for the pic Phil. I will need to check but I dont recognise the OLE mast in the foreground - I think this was changed at some point.

Whats the back row thing about? I have seen several mentions to it?

Cheers

Jim

The back row!!!, you will have to ask superintendant Jordan about becoming a member.

Whats the back row thing about?

Please do not ask me, I have never been invited to visit even though I have a comfy chair with cushion. I understand that the back row is something like a Gentleman's Club where the topic of discussion is predominately about the colour BLUE...

If we are lucky then we shall be treated to an explanation just as soon as Jordan has worked out where the back row is this week.

Come to think of it... might the Back Row be a candidate for inclusion in "Clue"?

Welcome, Jim. It's a totally nuts project :) :) I have fond memories of the old Bullring and going under the wires at Coventry and seeing the rotunda. When we traveled up by train from Oxford, BNS was always a dark and mysterious place, filled with unfamiliar engines. Anyway I like the concept, especially the 'total model' approach where every part is given the same attention and can be viewed as an individual item

Ooh 'Total model' I like that (Total Model™ from now on? :) )

I dont know if its all that nuts really. I bet I dont build any more layout in my lifetime than the next guy, just I am building one big one rather than lots of little uns.

Cheers

A big welcome Jim,

As a stalwart of blue you are most definitely welcome. Methinks you are too skilled and clever to become a back row candidate and we would have to promote someone forward a row or two to make room anyway, it's standing room only back here :D Besides, the blue gang have their own HQ. It's called the blue room

Regards,

Mark
