Jinty's Non Western WB

Hi all,

Well not done that much lately, I'm building up an Orion A38 Autocoach for a friend, and I've also fitted another friend's Heljan Deltic with sound. I've used the ESU V4.0 XL with SWD sound file and one of Cliff Williams's speaker and enclosure.

I couldn't test the loco as what track I've laid for Talyllyn just isn't long enough for a Deltic. So I had to notch her up for a return run at slow speed!!!

Back on with the Autocoach now.

Thanks for the link off RM David brilliant stuff here I will go back over.
No wonder I didn’t spot you here last post being 2015 but looking forward to more over here.
Cheers

Hi Ade,

Yes, shame on me, I look in regularly but have not shared much here, although that is about to alter.

I've got quite a bit of stuff that I've done since 2015, and I'll share it on here bit by bit. So this thread may just grow quite a bit over the next couple of weeks (Hope admin don't mind).

For a start here is something that came off my workbench today.

A Minerva Models Kerr Stuart 'Victory' 0-6-0t loco that was finished in factory black.
I've weathered it as a slightly forlorn private owner loco that gets some love sometimes!!!
A few bits and bobs laying around on the loco, tools, oil can, billycan, etc.

Here are a couple more RTR detailing and weathering projects.

First up is a Heljan 25/1 fitted with a Zimo MX696KS loaded with Paul Chetter sound project for the class 25.
Directional marker lights and switchable/directional tail lights. Cab lighting has also been fitted to this loco, again dependant on direction and independently switchable.
I've then numbered it as a pre-TOPS loco in BR Blue and weathered it as a work worn loco.WB 288.jpg

Another Heljan example that I've worked on is this Heljan GUV in Post Office red livery.
I've painted a replacement door and some patch repair panels in grey primer.
Then a good weathering trying to concentrate on a slightly faded look to the sides from the carriage wash maybe.

The Minerva Models Kerr Stuart 'Victory' 0-6-0t loco looks a treat. I thought you were doing PhilH's weathering when I saw it, but all industrial's look alike to me....

Thanks Larry, I'm sure Phil doesn't think they all look the same, but I have to agree with you on that point!!! ;)

I think the GUV is excellent, how did you get the light grey worn patches effect ?

Richard

Hi Richard,

The paint worn patching on the grey, blue and red bits are a happy accident with white spirit.
For the red, Heljan paintwork has a side effect to White Spirit which can give the bleached/faded/streaked look that you can see.
The blue and grey were both cellulose, once dry, they were painted over with Testors Dullcote. This also has a reaction to White Spirit, in a similar way, so I was able to play around with White Spirit to get the effect you can see.

I hope my ramblings help

I do like your weathering. On a different tac, I wondered what the radius is through your platforms David?

Hi Larry,

If I remember correctly the inside radius is around 8' in old money.
I've tried to keep the radii as gentle as possible, hence why my turnouts are about 2'6" long on the main!!!
The video angle fore shortens it a bit.

Another couple of bits through the workbench are these two:

Firstly a Sna Cheng Brass 0-6-0t 3F 'Jinty' that was presented to me finished as 47357 in BR black, late crest.
I fitted a Zimo MX645R , two 1.5W 8ohm speakers, one in each tank and then weathered as a dirty, unkempt example.

Next up is another Heljan class 25, this time a 25/3 that I've recently fitted with a Zimo MX645P22 and ADAPLU adaptor board through two 2w 8ohm speakers and then crew fitted and weathered.

That head-on shot of the '25 and the adjacent scenery brings to mind many happy days shootin' on the Traws' line. The San Cheng Jinty looks terrific. I'm going to have to come over to yours and have a looksee before laying and ballasting any 0 gauge. :)

The middle shot of the Class 25, had to look twice, think you're having us on, that's a real one!!, some of the best weathering I've seen, more please.

Morning Larry,

You know you're welcome anytime.

Thanks for the comments, I only noticed after the photograph that the 25 has a wiper missing.
