7mm JT`s bit of a Johnson Jolly..........

I`ve pushed the boat out a bit this year. Having had a fling with building a Slater`s Johnson 1P in the spring and summer and quite liking the kit, it was only fair that I built her a companion.

I did`nt forsee Dapol venturing into the RTR Jinty and I don`t get very excited over Jinties that much so I think having chosen Slaters open cab 1F it will possibly make a change from the likely glut of Jinties on the horizon.

I bought the 1F kit at Telford last month and finished her ready for the paint shop today.

I treated her to a Laurie Griffen backhead set and some of his tapered handrails for the cab.......

At least there is no lining to do on this one...............

What lovely bits of work - both attractive engines (I've fond memories of the preserved 1F running at Swanage and Cranmore years ago; it's the open cab that appeals, I think: 7mm does give scope to adding the cab detail much more readily than 4mm, one of the few aspects of the larger scale that appeals).

Keep up the good work.

Thanks Adam

I used to work in Swanage Healthcentre and I too remember the 1F working oposite my office.....happy days....... . I think it got damaged during it`s stay and I don`t remember it ever returning.
Sadly she`s out of action now over ownership legalities.....

Thanks John, I wasn't aware of the current situation, which is a pity and hardly surprising, I suppose, give the age of many of those involved in the earlier days of loco acquisition and preservation. That said, it's currently in the dry at Barrow Hill which is a blessing.

I do remember keeping bags of coal on the stop blocks at Swanage platform 2 for a quick re-fuel during a run round. Tiny bunker, nice engine.

As a final chapter to this thread I`ve completed a couple of video links now that I have hard wired my LMS locos with sound decoders.

The Johnson 1F has Digitrains J94 sound file which I think works quite well ................

The Johnson 1P also has a Digitrains sound file which I removed from a 4mm Ivatt 2MT.............

How can you not love a Pug? With Goole being not too far from here I have a strong pull towards the L&Y, unfortunately my layout plans won't justify one but it will justify bigger L&Y things. Is there a layout where these lovely models live?

....so these LMS locos might have war-time running rights...... under rule 1 ......

but now I`m retired have decided to complete all my loco kits in one last effort before my vision decilnes any further and then move on to the stock and layout(s)

So just and MOK GWR 48XX to start.

this one to finish.......
