Just a thought........ about TT scale

I have been dabbling with some continental TT - following post-war DR to be exact as in the winter I need some railway activity indoors because my main railway system 'lives' in an unheated garage. My stock is a mixture of BerlinerBahn which subsequently became Tillig, and Piko - so far. A fair variety of stock in this almost forgotten (in the UK) scale is available in Europe and is expanding with makers such as Roco and Brawa plus a great number of smaller companies offering equipment. My thought was - is anyone else out there in to this scale?

Roger.

Dont feel to bad. I know the feeling of being the only one (or one of two at least).

Perhaps giving your topic a more descriptive title would attract more people. Your current "Just a Thought" and your choice of location dont really guarantee people will may much attention.

Why dont you try posting some photos of your things in one of the more modelling focused locations? Might get a bit more engagement there.

Thanks for the advice, gents. Unfortunately my modelling activities have currently ground to a temporary halt following cataract removal from both eyes last week. It will be another month or so before I finally get 'proper' glasses to provide properly corrected vision for 'close-up' work to continue with this project. At the moment it consists of a modest collection of stock, track and buildings, some of which are yet unstarted kits! A layout has been planned and a board is constructed - now it's down to getting it together and then I can post it in the appropriate section.
Finally, regarding the title, yes, it is a bit vague - perhaps some kind moderator would add the words "about TT scale" which may sharpen it up a little ;)!

Roger

PS - I don't mind being on my own but I do enjoy sharing too!

Hello Roger,
Well, I admire the TT stuff, how's that!?!
I almost got carried away and once contemplated exchanging everything from H0 to TT but thought better of it. It's a lovely scale and I've certainly seen other folk modelling it, at the European Railways show at Edgbaston, for example.
People on here also seem to appreciate my little slice of Prussia in H0 so please do share what you have in TT, I'm sure others besides myself will like it.
Cheers,
John.

Been there and done that on the lonely furrow front - British HO is a pretty lonely furrow to plough!! But then I'm never keen on being in the 'Mainstream' anyway, modelling the same stuff in the same scales as almost everyone else, hence the American O Scale - although my 'British' interest of the Forest of Dean railways is gaining popularity - must be something to do with affordable R-T-R Pannier Tanks in O Scale these days!! :D

Anyway the only references I used to see to Berliner Bahn & other Continental TT was in Chris Ellis's Model Trains magazine (later Scale Model Trains, & later still, Model Trains International). I never saw any for sale anywhere in the UK (pre-Internet days, and not that I ever looked for it, anyway!!). But like other members here I'll take a look at any railway modelling subject, in any scale, especially if there's plenty of pictures!!

3mm SMR sold Berliner Bahn waaaay back when - probably 1980s.
I have a catalogue from that time somewhere around.
I'd be interested in seeing your activities as I do like 3mm scale in it's various forms and whilst I sold almost all my bits a few years back it doesn't stop me looking and appreciating

Thank you all for the encouragement. As my eyes improve over the next week or two , so will my capability to start track laying I hope. Pictures will be forthcoming as and when.

Regards to all,
Roger.

I remember the old Berliner TT-Bahnen, however the later Tillig and Roco stock looks finer. At least European TT at 1:120 is correct for the 12mm track gauge.

Yes, please post some photos of your DR stock.
