Circumstances prevent my progressing with my layout at present, so I am continuing to post a few pictures now and then - trying to keep the subject matter varied :). Here are a few taken at Koln in 2011:

A class 143 (a former DR type) entering the station just coming off the Hohenzollern Bridge.

I hope these may be of interest - I have a few more taken at Bonn and Eberbach should there be any interest.

Yes please.

Köln is certainly different today. These are some of mine taken in the early 1990s not long after the wall came down.

I had just come off this train from Bruxelles Midi composed of SNCB Eurofima coaches and SNCB 1601. Couldn't see the skate underneath though :). The train is on it's way to Köln Deutz for stabling.

And finally a BR 103 arriving as it was starting to snow.

Hi Dave,
Thanks for posting those pictures - I have many DB pictures dating from the 1980's, but all on prints and at the moment am without scanning facilities. It was a great and colourful period. I had several runs from Oostende to Koln behind SNCB class 16's so can share your experience. I also photographed a class 18 at Koln, but to my regret, never had haulage behind one.

Roger

PS - apologies to everyone - haven't worked out how to do the umlaut over the 'o' yet :(.

Hi Roger

Like you I have may more DB photos taken around Köln, Bonn, Dortmund, Remegen, Koblenz, Frankfurt am Main, Hanau, München, Nürnburg, Stuttgart, Darmstadt, Salzburg and on the BLS and SBB.

PS - apologies to everyone - haven't worked out how to do the umlaut over the 'o' yet :(.

I used to have a laptop with a German keyboard. However on an English keyboard if you add German (Germany) language to your keyboard and switch from ENG to DEU the following keys will provide the umlauts and the scharfes S (ß).

ö = ;: key
ü = [{ key
ä = '@ key
ß = -_ key

Using Shift and the above keys you will get the capital letter.

If you are running a Windows machine, you can run charmap.exe, which gives you all the characters available on whichever font you are using. You just copy the character from charmap and paste it into your text.

Thanks for the information on umlauts - I'm using Linux, but will sort something out from what you have advised.

Nice photos, thanks for posting them here. Just to be really picky the ICE unit is an ICE3 rather than an ICE4. The 4 has only been around for about two years and has a squarer looking nose.

Keep them coming! :thumbs:

Thanks for that, Temeraire - thick fingers on the keyboard at my end which escaped the eye :oops:! Title corrected.
