We have had a conversation about DCC operated sliding doors for a scratch built set of 'Shenfield' stock .......reckon it can be done :D

I've seen it done many years ago on a 4-PEP unit in P4 using memory wire.

'Shenfield' stock? surely 1938 tube or surface Q stock would be better - it's easier to install a 3rd and 4th rail than 1,500v DC catenary. ;)

On the other hand if it's Central Line why not the earlier 1935 tube stock....:rolleyes:

The 'Shenfield' stock is an idea I've had for a long time and is a future project purely from a personal position, if the Love lane crew would want or like the idea for the layout, well that's down to the collective :D. I know Tim and some others like the idea of the the 'Clacton' stock and maybe the two projects could be built side by side:):D.....you never know ;)

Easiest thing in the world to reverse engineer the CAD file to produce the six cars of the 1935 prototype stock that operated on the central line shuttles.......

The mods would be to the cab side door tops, the front cab door would need the train reporting number box modified and the headlamps would be rectangular rather than circular. The couple would be a Ward type rather than an automatic Wedgelock type as here and a couple of dangling air hoses would be required on the cab front- simples!

This is actually an R49 cab but the Q38 and R38/49 had the same basic cab and bodyshell though with a few trivial detail differences like window sizes and destination indicator positions/couplers.

One of the details the Love lane crew want to install is lighting to buildings, signals and lamp standards.

The task of assembling these platform lamps has been given to me. They are scale copies of the types that were found on ex GER/LNER stations and were still being used in BR days c. '56 which is the era Love Lane is based.
The globes are 3D prints and the standards cast white metal produced by John birch , my input being the circular brass tubes.

They are quite fiddly to assemble and are illuminated by very small nano lights with the wires passing through the tubes and down a brass tube inside the columns.
The first one finished was tested today by Robin.

The globe on the left was just a test piece for colour type.

Here's a better focused shot, John's cast columns were mastered with a 3D print.

If you soldered one end of the LED to the brass tube that would act as one of the conductors, so only one fiddly wire to thread per lamp ;)

That's exactly what we thought we'd do mate, the idea is to be able to plug the lamps into another brass tube planted the platform so as to act as it's own jack plug, if that makes sense :confused::D.
The same idea is being used for the ground signals etc.

One down, another nine to make ( includes two spares) .

Rhod Turner had his camera out yesterday. This is the bus stop outside the station. RT on route 10A for Victoria poses near Martin Long's superb florist

On another note where do you obtain the bus advertisements from? are they 'home brewed' as I'll need some 1967-8 adverts for my RTs.

I showed Rhod's picture of the bus to a friend, who asked if I had created the scene. It occurred to me that Love Lane is a real collaborative effort, and even in this small scene a number of hands were a work. the full credits are

Colin Dowling (eastsidepilot) - the shop building, construction and painting. Also applied adverts to the bus and weathered it
Peter Insole - Road, pavement, kerbstones and the hand carved bus stop (cast white metal versions now available from Love Lane stores)
Martin Long - the flowers at the shop - there are many more inside.
David Rayner (S-Club-7) - the fence in the background
John Birch (Oz7mm) - Bus destination blinds, CAD for florists shop and bus stop LT logo transfer.
