Hi gang i have been reading W T for a while but haven't posted a thread before but felt that i should say a big thanks to Norman of sunny western super mare . Being an ex pom living in Australia i find sunny and the UK hard to put in the same sentence but i digress .
I have recently gone to DCC and decided to fit my three Heljan diesels with decoders first so all went well and everything worked apart from the lights on the 37 . Sometimes one end would work then the other and my head nearly bled from all the scratching and then i stumbled on a reply by Norman to a guy who was having the same problem . Here were all the answers that i needed set out in a concise way that even an idiot like me could understand. Bingo everything now works .
Most of the issues stemmed from the fact that Heljan only use red and black for the wiring .
Any way enough rambling , so many thanks Norman but I'm still not sure about that sun .
Cheers Paul

Thanks for the positive feedback - it really is appreciated. It's nice to know that posts have helped in some small way and I think I should follow your lead and feedback with thanks when I've found something useful.

Given that Son has pre-ordered a HJ Cl.37/4 and that we use DCC then I am expecting that we shall wish to read the topic which has so excited Paul, please include a link here.

Ahhhhh i have just realized that the particular posting that i found doing a google search was in fact from RM Web , idiot .
I have however looked and there are posts on WT . The main issue is that red and black wiring , where red is the positive common and black is the negative feed . The code boxes are fed from the LF & LR lights front and lights rear .
The red lights are fed from in my case AUX 1 & AUX 2 , the fan is fed from AUX 3 . U+ is the positive common and i ran a single wire to a small piece of copperclad or pc board and soldered all the commons to it then heat shrunk it .
Sorry about the mix up but hope this helps . If anyone wants i can email them the thread i found on RM .
Cheers Paul

Don’t worry, Paul, it’s the sort of thing I’d do
