Hi MTH,

Having built the JLTRT Mk1's & now EasyBuild MK1's, which would you choose yourself if you wanted a rake & why ?

.......the reason I ask is I will replace my kit-bashed Lima's at some stage & having looked at what's available it would be a toss up between JLTRT, Easy Build & Bachmann Brass.

Cheers Phill

Phill they both have their quirks, OOTB the Easybuild look better because of the etched window frames, and there are some stops etc missing from the JLTRT sides, but I found the JLTRT easier to assemble, as you dont have to faff about filling the sides and adding hinges etc. Cost also comes into the equation if you want a dozen and the Easybuild wins there.

##edit##
I should add that personally I still prefer the JLTRT once the windows have been sorted. It is a crying shame that Heljan made such a cock up of their mk1's otherwise they would have been ideal for long trains

I would have to say Easybuild (i already have 2). Why? well for me the bigest pain was masking all the windows on the JLTRT's (175ish in all) I also found EasyBuild was easer and quicker to build:confused: manly with the bogies (3 types of construction of JLTRT as compaired to 1 on Easybuild).

I can imagine masking those windows was a nightmare  I binned them and used etched frames, less masking and the look better. We are not making this easy for Phill are we? :)

No. To try and make it easyer.
If you want a kit that looks good when finnished but needs a few extra bits go for JLTRT.
If you want a kit that is easy to build looks good when finnished with no extra bits then EasyBuild
If you want a Kit that is spot on then MMP
If you don't give a :shit: what it looks like stay with Lima.

Or find some one to build them for you:thumbs:

Must send before the Pendo im sat next to leaves and i loose the Free WiFi

I'm not actually at the point of replacing them, so you guys are not putting me off anything.......just helping me make an informed choice when I do replace them :) ......... but it will happen when I have time to build them, probably once I have the present loco kits finished ;)

I'm sure the MMP's are the best MK1's, but to build a full rake of them would take forever & at the end of the day I do want layout coaches with some prospect of finishing them.

I think my preferred option so far from what has been said would be Easy Build or Bachmann Brass..........I think the Bachmann's with replacement windows could look good too?........so they are still an option & I would only need to detail them.

Cheers Phill
