New Member, New Scale

Hello. This is a totally new scale for me, coming from old, cheap and cheerful Minitrix and Lima N Gauge.

Of all modern(ish) locos, I do really like the hydraulics, with probably the D8XX as a favourite. I have a Minitrix version from yesteryear so I've got a soft spot for it. This is closely followed by the 22 and 35.

I'm planning a shunting layout plus joining a club to run longer trains once in a while, but I've got a while to go on either of those as I don't have much to run at the moment. Below (hopefully) is a picture of my total stock to date. I plan to update the Blue Flyer with one of the kits available and I really need to sort those coaches out. I either want to swap the BSK with a suburban comp or swap both suburbans for normal MK1s. If anyone has a solution to this, I'm all ears.

Still to come will be the loco and stock for my proposed shunting layout plus adding a coach or two to my train, which will be pulled by the detailed 35 (I'm not entirely sure the 35 worked suburbans though...).

Anyway, I'll continue to dip in and out of here to get inspiration and pick up tips. I'm totally in awe of the garden layouts here but it's not really on the cards before retirement and/or The Lady of the Manor relaxes her attitude to all things railway...

Hi Steve welcome aboard, I had the Peco 35 in white metal many years ago in 'N' but the scale got too small and the eyes demanded something bigger

Thanks all, very kind. I certainly look forward to joining in a bit more, especially with my 35 workbench when I order my conversion kit. I'm also thinking of getting a cheap Lima (or similar) shunter to detail and grime up for the shunting layout.

Two distinct types of model here; one set of shelf queens who'll pop out once a month to the club and some suitable cheapo modifieds for the layout.

Although I'm in no rush, has anyone got any ideas about my coach dilema? Two options:
1. Swap the BSK with a SB (and therefore have a further question of whether 35s pulled suburban stock)
2. Swap the SB & SBB for SK & SBK
Has anyone got any of these Bachmann/Tower Models coaches they would consider swapping?

Cheers

Thanks again all. Have definitely decided to sell the SBK, if anyone's interested let me know before the weekend. Tower Models still have a few SBs in stock so I'll get one of those to replace it and have a reasonable train to pull.

Because of this coach period, I'm afraid I'm going to have to disappoint a certain clan in here. The 35 is going to be GREEN!

I was going to make a comment about blue but you've answered that. GREEN for ever. Welcome
