New workbench area.

Following feedback for various members I have created a new area for workbench threads.

Again this is looking at how people are posting new threads, many seem to like posting a "workbench" thread in a sort of blog style of post. However we didn't seem to have a specific area for workbench threads and the ones posted seemed to end up in several different areas.

Likewise I seemed to be doing various things on my workbench which I thought may be of interest but they didn't really fit in the project threads I was working on. So this is another trial to see if we can make the forum more accessible I have created a specific workbench area and have posted my current status.
Very Little Gravitas Indeed*

So any thread owners who have created "workbench" threads please feel free to move them to this area. Over the next week I will go through the archives and see is we can move a few more threads over to this area to populate it with relevant content. Once again I emphasise I'm not going to be deleting any threads - it's more just shuffling a few cards around to categorise the content in a more logical structure.

One final note : there is another software update I would like to apply soon to the forum software as it gets rid of the flash uploader used to upload photos and replaces it with a HTML5 uploader. I appreciate for many that this is all gobbledegook but from a support point of view it makes a huge difference to me. Flash is the bane of my life, 90% of the reported problems are flash incompatibilities so getting rid of it is something that fills my heart with glee. I get really annoyed that Flash insists on pushing out an update every flipping week, I mean how many bugs have they still to find? How on earth can it be considered to be quality software if they need to update it every week due to an invulnerability? Of course the cynic in me see's every update as an attempt to push their own automatic software updates.
Steve Jobs covered it 6 years ago Thoughts on Flash - Apple

I will look for a quiet period to apply the update and will give a small advance notice of the update. So just be aware that if next week you see a short message that the forum is offline due to updates it's me getting rid of the flash uploader!!! ;):thumbs:

I would love to move my "Padgate Works" thread over but cannot figure out how to. Which is not surprising if one considers all the pills I'm on...
A grand idea mind Adrian and it might even stimulate some activity frae yours truly

So what will happen to the long running " What's on your workbench" thread, and will it stay members only ? And can I keep my workbench thread in the Gauge 3 section if it is only G3 stuff ?
Generally I like the sound of this, but I am always a bit wary of filing too many different things under one heading. It will be very interesting to see how this develops.
Thank you Adrian

I'm a bit confused now, I thought the new "workbench area" was more aimed at workshop techniques, lathes, drilling, milling, cutting, casting, etc tips and techniques than the workbench in the "what I'm building" sense:confused:

That was my understanding too - if that's correct, might 'Workshop' not be a better description?
