7mm Newton Chambers Car Carriers

Worked from Kings Cross to Edinburgh and Inverness. They are UIC compliant as there were plans to go into Europe with them!

Built in 1961/62 in Maroon, were there still steam hauled trains on the East Coast? I would think these did get hauled by steam.

Sounds good then, I havn't seen any pictures of them on the West coast main line though. That video of Heathers reminds me when my Mum and Dad took us to France when I was young many years ago, the good times.

Len, East coast only I believe, the train ran from Edinburgh to London and back, not sure if others ran elsewhere but all the photos I've seen have been ECML. They may have run later on the WCML on some cross country motor rail services, I've got a nagging feeling I've seen one at Stafford but no photos, only memories. Of the 14 still extant in 1981 I had copped seven by that date.

I have just had Mr Taylor from Westdale round to take a few pictures of his latest kit, the Newton Chambers double deck car carriers. It is very nice and I will be having at least one. They will be available at Telford.

Thought you might like to see it here though!

No Steve but he did intimate that they would be a bit more than a standard coach as everything on it is a new casting and of no use to any other projects.

I doubt the Newton Chambers car carriers would have been used on this service, I think it used GUVs and later open flats, but an interesting read all the same.

Artistic license & you can imagine a Western or Warship working Newton Chambers car carriers to Newton Abbott or St Austell, an added benefit that you don't have to find scale cars to put on flats.

I'll get mi coat
