Am trawling through the books/web in search of inspiration for something to run it on but first perhaps a bit of artwork for a coach/wagon underframe , something to build a plastic body on........;)

I have just dropped in the post to you a couple of hopefully helpful French postcards that arrived in a collection of "stuff", the views are from a bit far away but will hopefully inspire you to more Anglo Gallic brilliance:thumbs:

I sort of quite like this as a micro- layout possibility (sorry for the poor photo reproduction)...it's not in the above book but on a postcard showing the tram terminus at Valenciennes...nice lot of detail cameos but as to the loadsa stone setts !!

Go on, I dare you :D:))
It looks like it was designed with railway modelling in mind, lovely little scene.
Lots of setts, but then you've got previous form for those :)

They also run a forum, also in French. Though of participating is far too intimidating for my schoolboy, 'O' level, drop out language skills, it's a wonderful site to take a gentle trawl through by specifying suitable criteria into the 'Rechercher' box.

Edit: Here's a rather fun scenario, the Cafe Gare at Saint Laurent du Pont on the Chemin de fer de Voiron a St-Beron.

Is that an early French version of a Macdonalds drive through?

Neil... never mind the forum, about 2-3 years back I took out a 12 months sub on their mag 'Voie Libre' .....an absolutely cracking read (with the English translation) ....ever since then I get e-mails in French telling me about all sorts of things which I wish I understood.....should have paid more attention at school:headbang:

Right ....have had a good look on the LRPresse forum (Voie Libre bit) and there's some terrific stuff on there, thanks for the link Neil, but what's it all mean? what are they saying?......:headbang::headbang::rant:..... but I can follow the pictures:thumbs:

Have used that in the past....it's OK but can throw up some strange phrases leaving one no better off

Haven't really done much to this of late mainly due to being distracted by a 4mm micro layout . I got the track and sector plate installed and ballasted , looked at it all , a quick OMG!! and it got put away. Having 'resurrected' it and started on the small station building it's sort of dispelled my earlier reservations about it ...... and even the sun's come out so I may, at last, get some green paint on the loco ......might even get my carriage/wagon underframe artwork off to the etchers ;)
