Didn't see note 2: panel thickness 0.76 to 2.29mm. So that's not going to be timber then!
My sample GX16-9 plug and socket arrived yesterday. As you predicted the solder tag areas on the rear of the pins is too small - just about doable on the female socket with 1mm2 wire but the pin tags on the male plug are different and a much smaller area. Back to the drawing board.

Tortoise point motors will be fitted to the layout using the P4Track Company's adapter bases...
I'll be embedding 6BA nuts in the bases and using 1/2" cheesehead screws to fix the Tortoise motors to the adaptor bases.
First trial works well, just got to wait for the 50 nuts, washers, screws to arrive...
Saves pratting around trying to fit nuts on to the screws as recommended in the destructions.

Well Dave, after much searching through various shops, catalogues and online market places I've concluded that what you suggested is as good as I'm going to get for my needs. There are more compact options but they are substantially more pricey. Well done that man for the suggestion.

Hex nut - round hole... how?
I like the idea so interested in what stops the hex nut from rotating in the mounting plate.

Bodgery. Undersize round hole, a nice bit of solvent to soften the plastic. But pushed in under a bit of force. Plastic hardens around it. Could probably use heat (soldering iron) to the same result. Oh and I finish up with a drop of superglue.

Thanks Alan, whilst everything else is my own work, the 2CV was made and painted by a friend over in RMwebland. Paul did all the vehicles on Black Country Blues and made a really good job of the 2CV.
