Afternoon all

Having a clear out and tidy of the train room. Been flicking through a 6' pile of old train mags seeing if there's any content I want to keep (Treneglos and other layouts I've worked on for instance).

Came across this photo if a train on the North Cornwall Railway apparently dated 24 April 1961 with T9 30717 (early crest watercart tender) with PSet 172. Also in tow was a bogie bolster, can and brake van. Coaches in set 172 are likely to be BSK D2113 2777 and BCK D2401 66664 according to my scribble (probably needs checking)...

Not seen this photo, or a train with this consist on the NCR, before in a Mag or book. This is from Hornby Mag Issue 21, March 2009 and is credited to D Hepburne-Scott.

Anyone else seen it in another publication?

Not sure - but it's a fairly common perspective which complicates things somewhat. Nice (unfitted) LNER-type Quint with what appear to be whole tree-trunks tacked on the back, too. The brake looks LNER rather than the BR version, but when did caption-writers ever get that right?

I thought the brake looked like a NE variant as I think it has short stepboards.

So this is the gist of what's happening...

IMAG5989.jpg IMAG5988.jpg
Making up the kitchen cabinets that have been sat in the garage for about 9 months.

This clears the heap of boxes out of the garage, provides neat storage under the layout, enables old furniture in the train room to be disposed of, freeing space for a spare bed and chest, which clears another room, which enables it to be decorated so that no1 daughter can have a grown up bedroom, which enables the other bedrooms to be decorated.

So in summary I'm selflessly working in the train room for the benefit of the rest of the family...
